Is there a function in the game with TAB Key like there was in FFXi i know you can tab items and shit.. i mean the recent shit they added in ffxi where you didnt have to look at the item to tab it...
(Example : say the item was speed belt and you where not at the AH to look at it or see anyone who had it.. You just did something along the lines like "/item "Speed Belt" and it would say after you hit enter "speed belt" has been added you your auto tab function..... Reason i asked tryin to buy Obsidian but i cant tab it yet because havent seen anyone selling it atm

Also what was the slash command i speak of in ffxi i forget been 5months+ since played

there is 2-3 swarms at pretty much every river crossing at emerald moss and camp tranquil

The function you speak of is /translate, I do not think it has been implemented in the beta, perhaps retail. Also, I think you can currently only translate items you have in your inventory, not ones you have seen in bazaars, but I could be wrong on this.

I saw this too late, I started as MRD, switched to PUG to end it and got nothing. Had I not overlooked this post I would have tested starting on PUG, switching to MRD to kill, then back to PUG to collect. Oh well, not like I will have time to collect enough to use before Sunday anyway.

I am not sure it has been mentioned, but currently you can only have 999 shards of any type of elemental shard in your Crystal inventory list. If you want to hold more you can use your bazaar and put it up for 99999999999999 gil. The thing that sucks is that if you end up buying too many shards, your gil will still be spent and the shards from a retainer's bazaar will disappear, but you will only have 999 shards of that element in your inventory...

How does wearing equip thats higher level work?

Like say I wear level 11 body on my level 1 gladiator, is it better stats then the level 1 body gear I started with?

The stats on the item look like an upgrade but when you equip it you don't benefit from the stats and can often be worse off stat wise. Especially if the item isn't recommended for your class.

Wearing gear past your rank scales down its stats depending on how much lower you are from optimal. I'm not sure how it scales for being on the wrong class though. You should usually stick to stuff at or lower than your rank.

Depending on how shitty your current gear is though, sometimes it can be an upgrade no matter how severely scaled-down it becomes when you put it on.

The one thing about wearing gear that is higher than your level is that you most likely will not be able to repair it and then the npc wants 10k to repair

This is the main reason I have decided to level my crafts along with my DoW/DoM. Or at least get my crafts up high enough to make my repairs. I wonder how difficult it will be to keep my crafting up with my other disciplines.
Also, I found typically a +1 lower tier gear was just as good as the next higher tier gear from leve rewards.

Ive leveled 4 jobs to 7-8, and im yet to learn any traits or abiltiys.

What are some good traits and abilitys to try and learn to help with soloing and DoW quests?

Ho, it'll be delicious when the game starts...

Action&Traits in the menu > pick your class from the drop down menu on the right > equip them > enjoy the skill you've been getting since level 2.

Gear higher level than you seems to degrade faster.

A note for retail: If you want an item you are NOT currently wearing repaired and don't wanna pay the NPC, Put it up to "request repair" on your Bazaar, and offer a worthy price for the item that's used in the repair.
Example: Bronze Chainmail > Repair item: Bronze Rings x2
If Bronze Rings are ~200G each, at least offer 1k for the repair, or no one is gonna bother. I see a lot of cheapfucks offering 1g for a repair.. You know who you are.
Or, At least buy the repair items yourself, and offer them as the reward for the repair. That way Crafters get a quick skillup basically for free.
Offering shards as a reward is nice too. Don't underestimate the demand of Wind Shards/Fire Crystals..

Since you cannot request repair on something you are wearing, Idle near the repair NPC in your town overnight, with the gear you need repaired in your Bazaar. If the reward is worth it, someone will fix it.

you do not get abilities or traits by lvling up at least not in beta you gain them with guild marks

atleast things considered abilities and traits in the action and trait menu

You learn abilities/traits as you rank up... (not level)

You CAN buy abilities/traits with Guild Marks, but that's not the only source.

I seemed to stop learning Fisher abilities/traits at 18, which was Gulleye III. Dowse III would have naturally been at like Rank-20, but that's a Guild Mark purchased ability. Does every class seem to stop naturally learning things and rely on Guild Marks from then on out?

Core posted some monster, armors and other pics and it made me think... mages are getting quite shafted in the looks department at the start :< beside the cowl there's nothing really cool to look for right now. I hope that will change down the road because for now I feel like focusing more on meele classes D;

what i mean is the game considered moves you get as you rank up as "actions" not abilities. abilities seem to only apply to things you gain on DoL and DoH since if you try and set one it limits you to only those jobs in your menu.

also note that in closed beta the ability row found in action and traits where called "synthesis and gathering abilities" or something to that effect

I'm a bit surprised people are getting upset about being behind by a day or so, if the shoe was on the other foot you'd be laughing it up. I live in the future and I still get games later than America.

Has anyone worked out how to remove buffs yet? Guard lasts for quite awhile
