What is the general thoughts on servers on release day.
what servers are going to hold what groups?
anyone know where the masses from BG are rolling on?
I am leaning towards Lindblum because my Steam group is rolling there, Hammerfist clan as far s I know is rolling there, some people from crystal core forums aswell. I just don;t want to be on a server with ll EU, JP, or French players that would bumb me out to be all alone at peak hours on the west coast.

3 Dumb question about crafting

1) How do you know what you can repair. If I play armorer I can only repair armors then?

2) How do you know what lv you can repair stuff. Exemple I have a lv 8 weapon to repair, can I repair it at lv1?

3) What does facility access do? currently at the blacksmith guild and it offers me 3 different facilities access

Weavers repair things that take cloth to repair, carpenters repair things that take wood to repair, etc.
You don't, you just kind of estimate based on the level the item and the material it requires. If you fail a bunch of times, I guess you are too low.
You get a huge penalty on some synths if you're not using guild facilities. It will tell you on the final page where you choose the item if the synth requires facilities. It might also increase your chances in general.

Where "heavy" means 20-50 people on some random forum decided to all play on the same server. These "groups" on each server are going to be unnoticeable when servers have 10,000 people each one them.

Even if it would be only 1 person, who made decision it doesn't matter anymore. As you can see the word spreaded across all forums (this one, as you can see, is not exception) and now people who want to play on EU time zone will see these posts and go to Cornelia/Lindblum.

So, yes, Lindblum is second EU server (Cornelia being the first one). Though, I'm not sure which one will have bigger EU population.

I certainly won't be rushing to Cornelia or Lindblum just because a few dozen people on Core decided EU people should go there. I think I'll wait as long as possible before choosing server, see what the Japanese players do on release day. We don't know how SE set server limits yet.

Every town has 20/30/40 fieldcraft leve for one DoL class.

Yeah which is why I'm trying to find out which town has BOT. But rank 10 must be too low to get 20 leves.

I remember back at XI NA launch all the GameFAQs people were raving about Fenrir server. Oh what a mistake that turned out to be.
And yeah I know GameFAQs sucks, but I didn't know any better XI forums in 2003.

Hey, is there a thread explaining the linking of a FFXI account to FFXIV?
I just reactivated my content ID for FFXI, which I think is linked to my Square Enix account (since I now use my Square Enix info to open POL). Is that all that is needed for the bonus item to be had once I start playing FFXIV release?

Did someone say earlier that the points you put in elemental resistance have an impact on crafting or gathering?

its possible, someone would have to test it dumping a bunch of stats into a craft but knowing SE it probably does in some way.

I tested it. Here are the results:

A player’s physical and elemental statuses greatly affect crafting and gathering. There are many hints within the game that reveal which statuses affect which aspects.

Attributes: Works in conjunction with the type of tool used to affect synthesis quality
Elemental: Affects the occurrence rate of “god sends,” as well as synthesis stability

[ Gathering ]
Physical: Affects the number of items harvested, as well as the drop rate
Elemental: Affects the type of crystals that can be obtained during gathering

Well thats good to know, and sort of scary at the same time, so many things from.. the sounds, colors, character stats all affecting crafting. Whats next weather and moon phases+ the direction your facing during a craft!? (there are stars with various colors in the sky, red, blue, green etc)

I've had that damn icon next to my name ever since I got D/C by the server while on the ferry to limsa ._.;; nothing I do makes it go away. but every time I log in, I see more and more people with it next to their names too then I don't feel so stupid *shrug*

Does the same with with the weapon/armor damage icon, too. Some people just have the icon on them permanently.
