Seriously, where's the advertising of this game? I've seen no commercials and the game come out on Wednesday.

Did I just lose a leve reward because I had a full inventory? Discarded some shit and checked my loot section, but no boots were listed =(
Suckkssss
Edit: nvm, when you initiate another leve... you receive the reward =)
The /v/ steam group? Run and hiiiiide.
Nah Idk.
I'm really torn on what server to roll on too. I want to go Figaro just for the name but I'm hearing it's going to be JP heavy.
I'm interested in seeing how the free world selection will work. If it will make for unique server cultures or if things will still be mixed.
What did you make after Distilled Water with Alchemist? I got to 8 on that recipe today but I really need a new recipe. It's hard to find info online about which rank to craft things.
Which will take what, a month?
If you level a crafting class you've got 8-10 tools right there because of having to level other classes to support it. Then you've got 2 gathering tools. 4 weapons for your DoM or DoW classes, about 16 different pieces of equipment that you're wearing, plus equipment that you're not wearing and waiting to sell, waiting on repair before you can sell etc.
And are you really saying I should NPC those chestnut logs I get gathering that cost 20k at the guild, just because I won't need them yet? You will need to keep crafting materials you don't currently need yet, unless you want to burn a massive hole in your pocket.
This is just standard low level shit. Do you think at level 30+ the equipment for your alchemist is going to have the best stats for your blacksmith? Or your gladiator's equipment will be the best equipment for your archer?
Bah, so you can't effectively use the retainer for storage if you're running around different starting areas. I'll probably end up with 2-3 retainers though anyway due to the inventory problems. Plus you can only sell 10 things at a time with a retainer? At least I've never seen a retainer selling more than that.
If they simply add a separate 80 inventory for equipment and a separate 80 inventory for items, it would be more than realistic to work on tons of different classes simultaneously. Especially, since a bunch of the gear overlaps multiple classes/disciplines. It's the 4 qualities of every damn item in the game that's making it difficult to consider as of right now.
It wouldn't be a big deal to cary the 2 tools/weapons for each class if it wasn't in the same pouch as your Crayfish, Crayfish +1, Crayfish +2, and Crayfish +3.
One little outing at a fishing point will burn at least 20+ slots in my inventory without even completing a stack of anything.
Random Question:
Is there a vendor who sells shields at the start of the game? If so, where are they? Same thing with a CON wand. Every other 'starting' item seems easy enough to find.
Just planning ahead, and I never bought one from a vendor in beta.
Shazaam: Uldah - there's a gladiator place that does, but for 43k I believe...? Best to just wait a few days and find the wood workers and buy a maple square shield off of them.
I already mentioned that at lv30+, you might start to run into inventory issues. At that point, who knows, maybe gobbie bags. The bottom line is, inventory management in FFXIV is easier than in FFXI. If you're really hurting for space, you've got about an extra ~20 slots worth of bazaar space. On top of that, crystals take no inventory space. All the equippable gear you mentioned takes up maybe 30-50 slots, that gives you 110-150 slots left to fill with whatever the hell you want. If that's not enough, you're doing something wrong.
You mean: If that's not enough, you must be working on more than 2 classes with varying ranks.
I'm Pugilist, Fisher, and Carpenter. Luckily, some of the gear for those 3 overlap... some. Generally, there are pretty distinct sets for each discipline, each sets are sometimes broken up into sub-sets for the different classes in those disciplines.
This is with only 3 classes, one from each discipline (I'm lumping war & magic into one)
6 slots go to weapons/tools without question.
24+ slots to almost full sets of gear for each class
6+ slots for accessories
~10 slots for stacks of various fishing bait and lures.
~10 slots from my retainer selling gear from leve rewards
5+ slots from bazaaring stacks of fish or materials
2~3 slots from selling any aetheryte shards/crystals
That already is leaving me with less than 30 inventory to go Fishing with and/or deal with Carpentry ingredients. I had just described that a fishing outing can eat up a few dozen slots from all the various fish in varying degrees of quality, and possibly DOUBLE that inventory devouring if I'm spearfishing as well. The same goes for Botany/Mining.
One, single gathering point can yield 5~6 different items... x 4 = stupid.
That is not doing something wrong, and it sure as hell does not leave much room to play with another class without constantly and frequently NPCing everything I find.
They should redo that commercial in english and run it over here I'm sure the response will be positive.
Have you even played crafting/gathering classes to any serious levels (20+) or are you just making this up as you go? How can you say inventory management is easier than XI when in XI you don't have +1/2/3 ingredients, you don't have to level 4 or so crafts at the same time, you don't have to keep higher level materials or sell them for 1/10 what you'll buy them for next week, you don't have gear that can't be sold until it's repaired and you don't have a hard time selling anything because there's a nice convenient AH?
The fact you say it may be an issue at level 30+ is pretty much just repeating what I originally said, and why I brought the issue up. Yet you're trying to dispute it anyway? I don't think hoping for gobbie bag quests is good. The default seems too low.
Maybe it will work out when it's easier to sell stuff other than NPCing it for pennies, we'll see. If people would pay for example 10k for logs I don't need yet I wouldn't face a choice of keeping them or NPCing them for 1/10 the cost NPCs sell them for.
Edit: Another problem concerning gear and different classes is you don't want to be equipping your new rank 1 pugilist with your rank 30 gladiator equipment. From from I've heard it wears down faster when equipment is way above your level, plus repair costs will be unnecessarily high. So there's more equipment to carry.
well they get more expensive after distilled water
and I couldn't find where to buy the shriekshrooms
So I think I made a few honeys (one recipie x12 honey)
but I mainly tried to do Table salt, since it uses the distilled water
also if you can find minium try making quiksilver
although these are probably all level 10 and you will fail unless you use speedy hands the whole time I was still able to make quite a few table salt
after that I'm not sure but I would probably stick with trying to make alpha growth formula (if I find those damn mushrooms)
and in release we will be able to turn shards into crystals probably a great way to make money too by selling the crystals (needed by other crafters regularly)
Yeah I've been trying a few things since that post. Quicksilver is a nice recipe but you end up with too much of it so it's not viable for many synths. Honey seemed decent. Salt seemed poor, it wanted cooking skill. Alphas aren't bad if you can get the shrooms. It's possible to get to 10 on water I guess, I might just do that and accept the low EXP since it's cheap.
yeah I got almost to 9 on water and about 5 table salt
since its so cheap and doesn't use to many crystals like other recipie probably is slower but cheaper and get exp every time.
still you dont want too much water right, so once you get high enough you should start making another recipie so you can have something more valuebal to sell
Water is easily disposed of, just NPC it. I'm going to farm shrooms on release I guess for those alphas.
yeah I think they will be the staple for alchamy since they are used for wands and things.
Do you know where to get shrooms?
For the people confused about inventory it's sparse there's no denying that, the reason for this is so you buy more containers... um retainers. Unless there's a mog house in hiding with a safe it's a *safe* bet you'll be buying 1 or 2 extra retainers before any serious change is made in the future. Unless your of the mind that vending everything is a good idea.
Bear in mind that when you view your retainer list one of the things in thier profile is "Retainer level 1".
That implies that we will be able to level them up somehow, possibly for more storage space/bazaar space/functionality?
