Copy and pasted terrain?

Has anyone read the article on kotaku regarding the "copy and pasted" terrain n the XIV maps? They show diagrams in the article with color coordinated circles showing which points of terrain have been copy pasted, and flipped turned or mirrored.

Has anyone noticed the repetition between hills, mounds and mountains throughout the zones? It's not a big deal, but I havn't been able to play yet! So are they making a big deal out of nothing?

The only place i've noticed copy/paste terrain is the black shroud, sad how people make such a big fucking deal out of nothing.

Probably because it's blatantly, inexcusably obvious? Just because it doesn't ruin the game doesn't mean it isn't a valid criticism.

I don't even like XIV so far but every game with large maps does this to some extent. Anyone making a big deal out of it is a joke.

"to some extent" meaning reusing textures and models for scenery objects, maybe something like this on opposite ass-ends of the map. Making entire gigantic fucking maps of nothing but a repeating pattern of a couple terrain setpieces, then turning around and trying to sell your game on graphics and an immersive world is just wut inducing.

Obviously, you can't even fathom what goes into and what is behind developing games of this caliber, nor can any of the other thousands of crying little high school teenagers who like to wah-wah on the internet about Square-Enix being a horrible company based off of a brand new MMORPG still in its beta testing stage. Following the path from the Black Shroud to Ishgard you pass the same winding uphill path between a couple boulders like half a dozen times, trufax.

Coerthas and Western Thanalan are the areas I noticed it. I feel stupid if it's most obvious in the Black Shroud.

XI areas were mostly very flat, and barren even. The game doesn't have this problem because frankly it has not so many such zones like in XIV.

And for the zones that are not flat, the maps are so much more inaccurate you won't notice the similarities.
