Uh oh, it's this one again.
Yeah everyone who's been playing even a bit has seen it, some people care, some people don't, and some people make a bit too big deal about it.
Personally, I don't really give a shit, it happens in every MMO, the thing that you don't come by in every existing MMO though, are the fucking beautiful and unique places in the wilderness of FFXIV. People who think this is like some huge flaw and SEs totally failed in the world design need to take their head outta their asses and go out to explore a bit, you'll experience a pleasant surprise, I'm sure.
Not being able to see it, for no matter what the reason, is better than being able to see it. I don't remember many instances of repetition at all in Valkurm Dunes, while there are plenty in this Beta thus far. You can chalk it up to a better graphics engine or whatever, but it doesn't take away from the fact that not being able to see such glaring instances is always better than the alternative.
Ooooh but it's somehow "inexcusable." The crybabies' standards are far past what an MMORPG development team gets the time/money to do. These games are cash cows that they just need to barely feed to keep alive. Go play something else if you're too good for environments with some cut/pasted terrain elements. Acting like it wasn't in any other game "this bad" is such bullshit.
I know.
And furthermore, what kind of non-excuse is "they did it in this other game but it's not as obvious"? Even pretending for a second that it wasn't the same fucking people making both games, why couldn't they make it less obvious?
This is like jump all over again.
You really expect no more of the devs than to "barely feed" the game and you're still defending it? God you are such a cocksucker.
Also, if you actually read my post before launching into your little Square Enix Defense Force hissyfit, you'd see I said it doesn't ruin the game but is still a valid criticism.
I find slow servers, lag, abhorrent UI and the possibility of corruption returning on release far more worrisome than copy/paste landscape and re-skinned armor and mobs. The complaint is valid however it's just that a complaint. So people can complain about it if they want to and people can white-knight about it if they want to.
Needs more flat, barren areas and inaccurate not to mention unhelpful maps to make some people happy I guess.
It won't be as obvious that way, yay?
you know who cares about repeating areas?

Just wondering, is there actually any point in the 3 discussions made about this subject?
I mean some people are whining and telling it's fucking shitty and all that random waawaa, other people disagree and try to point out that it's a common thing in every MMO if you open your eyes.
It's not like the devs will actually start redesigning the areas that they've already finished doing. So if you're so far not satisfied with it, fucking boohoo?
It's just that you're a rather large asshole around here and every comment you make is extremely asshole-esque and generally smell like they came from a massive asshole who thinks he's putting people in their place. You beg for this kind of attention. Maybe you'll see this and stop one day? Though, I'm assuming you get off on it and it will eventually be best just to blacklist you as my efforts here are fruitless.

I "quotationed" method because you still seem to have shit in your eyes and don't believe other games have done or currently do this to the same extent. You choose to ignore that its obviousness in XIV is simply caused by a number of things like massive zones, extremely detailed maps, zones that aren't mostly flat/bland, beautifully textured scenery that people actually look at, and lack of alternate transportation.
If there were a scale of 0 (doesn't affect the game whatsoever) to 100 (completely and utterly ruins the game), I'd say this "issue" was a 7. You?
Also, I don't believe there's any conflict at all between me thinking large corporations tend to "barely feed" their cash-cow MMORPGs and me defending the small division of artists and developers within the company that are working a specific project. You really think that's reason enough to straw man me into a "Square Enix Defense Force hissyfit?" I imagine it's just you and your love of being an offensive prick with every disagreement you come across, insisting that raising awareness of who's not at fault vs. who feels overly entitled means I've got cock in my ass and/or mouth. Whatever that means.
I'm really enjoying the overworld layout & design so far. If it is repeating/recycling; I don't notice it enough to bother me. Gogo blissful ignorance~
Someone somewhere posted a video of Keeper of the Lake at Mor Dhona.
Basically, 80ft High Def Dragon. Awwwwww yeeea now that's what I'm talkin' about. Pretty sure he doesn't care he's on a reused texture
Hey guys I heard you like reskinned crabs and marmots in here? whats up?
Edit:
I actually appreciate the maps because they show you which parts of the geography you need to run around (little bumps and mounds). But, if it will shut you bitches up how about they remove them all (from the map only) so the maps look more or less empty save for major landmarks and paths, this way none of you will notice the copied/pasted/rotated mounds and cliffs in front of you and also on the other side of the map. Then you can all bitch about something else like your reskinned pink gowns and shit.
Why do I bother with you people?
Repeat after me: Bad map design is bad map design no matter how you arrive at it. This does not exclude bad map design caused by abusively reusing resources. I am not being clever by pretending that people who have a problem with FF14's bad map design are arguing that games should never reuse resources ever.
