    Motherboards and Power Supplies

Well I was wondering if there was some sort of guide or illustration that shows what each input thingy (or would it be an output I guess?) on the motherboard does if something is plugged into it. I'm going to be getting a new power supply and I haven't actually attached one to a motherboard in a really long time so I was looking to research a bit before I buy one, take out my old one, and reattach the new one to it.

it would depend on the motherboard and the manufacture of it for where the connectors are and where they go to

As far as your motherboard goes, there should only be a 20 or 24 pin input for your psu, and the other 4 pin is for the cpu. it looks like this

Remember those toys when you were young where you put the circle peg in the circle hole, the square in the square, etc..? well a computer is pretty much the same way, most the time it'll only go in one direction..

now when you get to hooking up your pw switch, reset switch, front usb, and front audio may god help you. My big bear claws for hands always give me a hard time with those. But from your description it doesnt sound like you'll be messing with that anyhow. but yea that guide above is really nice, but for the most part be observant of where you unplugged things from when taking out your old PSU

Those little mini-DIN plugs give everyone a hard time. I started using needlenose pliers for stuff like that.. makes things MUCH easier.

well my new MOBO (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131665) comes with an adapter, you put them all together on the outside of the case where you can reach the pins easily then this adapter slides into place on the mobo.. making it so much easier for ppl with mammoth hands

Was just gonna say that lol, my asus board came with the "q-connector" plugged in everything to that first then connected it to the motherboard. One for the usb ports also, but that one seemed worthless.
