They already announced that MHP3P will work with it, Capcom got up on stage during the conference and showed it. But all PSN PSP games are supposed to work, so I don't know if they're going to release a different version of MHP3P specifically for NGP. But they already showed that it uses the dual analog sticks now when they got up on stage.

I'm gonna tell you the one and only reason PSP didn't do better (and it's not a lack of good games). It's the fact that Nintendo had the only real recognizable name in the handheld market. They've been doing handhelds since for-fucking-ever and it's hard to compete with brand loyalty when this is your first foray into the handheld market and your competitor has been at it for ages.

PSP is the only and I do mean ONLY handheld to be able to compete, even if it's doing poorly in comparison, every other handheld put up against Nintendo has bombed much much harder than this. PSP's had good games coming out for it every single year of its release, often more actual good games than the DS... the DS sells more because it's Nintendo, really. It's not game quality, it's not the touch screen. It's the mother fucking pokemon!

right now theres just a part of me that hopes that they'll start selling PS2 Classics on the PSN which the NGP can play. NGP + PS1 + PSP + PS2 library would be a solid position to enter from the get go

Would be nice if there was a legacy setting (for PSP/minis) where you could just remap the right-analog to either face buttons or d-pad and have it act like a digital pad.

Anyways. As far as the UMD discussion goes, perhaps Sony will release an add-on that makes use of that port on the bottom of it. Granted I don't know how they'd mount such a thing without having it cover the rear touchpad, but I guess if you're playing PSP games you wouldn't really need access to the entirety of it anyways.

My guess is it would be more like the Kindle who includes 3g service when you buy the 3g model. That ends up being party of the value for that pricepoint. A subscription service plan sounds trickier.

If they did it Kindle style, enjoy being able to do nothing more than maintaining a friends list and sending messages. Anything else would consume too much bandwidth for any 3G carrier to bother.

Remember last year when Sony released that survey that most took to be PSN "Premium's" pricing model? I think we now know what those price points really represented. Even for the wealthiest gamers having to pay a recurring price for 3G data rates is a tough pill to swallow for your gaming console, considering that if you wanted a 3g data plan you'd already have one (and voice) with your smart phone. Unless PSN "Premium" perks got bundled into the deal.
