I recently read that sony might not attach a "PSP" name to this because there's apparently a negative stigma attached to it... umm, wtf? Was PSP really a failure in people's eyes?

To the people that like it, no.

But to everyone else...
The PSP went on sale back on 2005. By September that year, the firmware allowed for it to be used for music, video, pictures, and even internet through wifi hotspots.
It did the things everybody loves about the iPod Touch/iPhone, two years before those products even came to market.

Which one is everybody nuts over?
The PSP does have a bit of a marketing problem.

The did it to not look inferior, it was a marketing Perception thing because people are stupid. They didn't want to release Xbox 2 next to Playstation 3, quick marketing.... Xbox 360!

in the retail world the psp is generally regarded as a failure. its only in the community of people who modded it to make use of it better that they feel its great, which isnt the kind of people the developer would cater to either.

There will be a Madden at Launch too, I can verify that.

Would def get uncharted right off, would love at least one more launch title I was interested in besides uncharted.

Just a rumour for now, not a good start though if they're cutting back just to try and match the 3DS price... I can see this biting them in the ass later on. And with how shitty the 3DS is doing I don't think they should be making sacrifices to match them, though it remains to be seen if the 3DS will actually take off when they get software that isn't shit and/or ports.

If it ends up being true that's pretty shitty, however it only mentions the cheaper non 3gs version being down graded which would suck for people on a budget but people planning on getting the 3gs may be ok. Really hope if it happens they are smart enough to leave the higher end model alone and make it actually worth the price difference.

Fairly sure it's not just the non-3G version. They just want the non-3G version to have a price that can compete with the 3DS. The 3G version will cost more but will still be downgraded I'm guessing. Guess we'll have to wait til E3 at least for confirmation though.

They really, *really* shouldn't downgrade the ram. Last thing I want is another device with a shitty-ass ingame OS because it doesn't have enough spare ram to do anything besides the game itself.
