I've just taken to calling it the PS Vito. At $249, it's an offer that is hard to refuse.

Assuming some good launch titles for PSVita (hopefully some RPGs), it'll be day 1 purchase for me at that price point. 250 for WiFi onry. Don't need 3G since my phone is always on me and is my portable hotspot. Planning to get a 4G phone after the summer too. <3

Whoa, why did i not think of this?? Actually, just for this reason, the 3G monthly fee should be a lot less since most phones can give you a hotspot with great speed.

Every time I try to use my wifi hotspot app, the computer connects to it, but nothing ever seems to load a webpage... was just playing around with so didnt really look into it. This makes me think I need too

Lets hope it lets you connect to wifi broadcasted from your phone. I think to get the current psp to connect to my phones wifi it makes me do wifi to a laptop, then wifi from a laptop to the psp. Pretty annoying but it works

I think 250 is an incredible price point, and for me at least I don't see the point in springing for the 3G when I know a PSVita 2000 or something will be out a few years down the line.

It has a proprietary card for games, like the 3DS/etc. Plus a memory card. I'd assume it has some internal storage, but it doesn't seem to be specified yet (doesn't say how much RAM and such it has either). specs

Disable the LAN connection (under Adapter settings) and then everything should work. Obviously re-enable it once you're done.

I really wish these devices would move away from the glossy finishes. I think that the matte black DSi is so amazingly perfect. I wish that the Vita had gone that way. I know it is just such a MINOR gripe, but it just always looks dirty to me.

Aside from the very interesting (albeit very short) footage of the Vita game Gravity, you can also see how fingerprinted up it gets. Dunno, i just hate that. Hate it with my PSP, my DS Lite and even my Incredible. -.-

Im more worried about fingerprint smudges on the actual screen than the glossy borders. ;/

The only reason I am not as worried about the screen, is because I generally have screen protectors on every device I have that warrants one. PSP, Phone, DS, DSLR, etc. The only reason I wouldn't have one is if it hinders the view/clarity/touchscreen functionality in any way.

I have to say, since it wasn't obvious by my bitching, that I am VERY excited about the system. Unless something changes drastically before launch, I will nab a wifi on day one.

ugh, fucking this, aesthetically I think it looks so much better regardless but the finger prints and the feel and appearance of oil on my DS becomes a turn-off.

PlayStation Vita Just Might Be Region Free

This could be good news for anyone looking forward to the PlayStation Vita; IGN report that according to Michael Denny, Vice President of Sony Worldwide Studios Europe, the device will be region free, “to the best of his knowledge”.



The PlayStation Vita will come in two models – one with Wi-Fi capability for $250 and one with Wi-Fi/3G capabilities for $300. Further pricing details can be found in this post. As of now, we still don’t have concrete release windows for the PSVita in different regions of the world.

Will that work? I would use my smartphone sim card like that to avoid a new monthly charge, I'm still grandfathered in with unlimited data on that too.

My concerns:

1) Proprietary memory cards - new memory card format will have a premium price

2) PSN only store? - I was looking at all the gamespot info and there is no news about games coming from anywhere but PSN or that it has any media drive other than the memory cards. 3 yr old game sale prices will be 20% off original price...

Both ways that Sony gets their money back from selling the system so cheap.
