uh...?LiveArea also has location features and allows pubs/devs to track Vita owners "either by GPS on the 3G model or triangulation of mobile phone cells".
Yeah, i still cannot imagine why they felt the need to include such a feature.
games/applications that use proximity? theres functionality for it, although most people wouldnt view it as more than a gimmick
They said it would allow the publishers and developers to track where Vita owners are in the world. That doesn't even sound like game functionality at all, although I'm sure it's possible via LiveArea... it's just not what they are saying about it.

Well fuck.....
It really will depend how much of the resources Sony reserves for the system for future expansions. I doubt they want another case like with the PS3 where they couldn't add any new permanent features due to memory constraints with the existing software.
It would have been nice if the video recording/screenshot/MusicPlayer tools worked in every PS3 games instead of only the ones that budgeted memory/development time for them.
Sadly, even with the 3ds price drop I no longer have any urge to purchase it. A good % of the games that were going to come out this year I wanted were canceled, and the ones that were not canceled were strait up delayed. At this point in time I think I'd get much more enjoyment out of vita + uncharted than anything the 3ds has to offer. (though I really love OOT....) I guess I will wait for the 3ds revision, and get the vita day 1.
Not really surprised about the ram. What they originally announced seemed like a huge amount for a hand held (it was 2-3x what most home consoles had). This seems more in line with what I expected it would have.

is the UK supposed to be getting it before NA? Given the crazy expensive UK price, would anyone here be willing to import one to avoid the wait?
that would be the dumbest thing ever to release it in the uk before Usa/japan
Release it all at the same time. Fool as many fuckers as you can with the "pretty" till they realize "hey we got no games" looking @ you Nintendo 3DS
Maybe, but I don't see it.
If they want to fuck us over with crazy euro/pound convertions and "vat" fees and avoid mass importing from the glorious America, they should release it here first. not to mention EU as a whole prefers Sony's products, even if MS has had more success in UK.
We certainly deserve it!
all it is is that Blockbuster fubared and revealed the UK release date early. NA should release around the same time.

Sony’s Vita Can Do Some of What Nintendo’s Wii U Does
We learned back in June that the PS Vita could play nice with the PS3, but how much can the two systems do together? Apparently about as much as the Wii U.
Sony Europe R&D manager Phil Rogers said at the Develop Conference 2011 that the "PS3 can send data down to Vita and Vita can display it. You could use the unique features [of Vita] - gyroscope, touch front and back—as a control device for a PS3 game."
Vita will also be able to display encoded video from the PS3, acting as a second screen in case your TV is already in use, something emphasized by Nintendo when announcing the Wii U.
A second display with motion controls and touch screen sounds a lot like the Wii U, but Sony's latest addition to the handheld market is still emphasizing the mobile aspect of the Vita with "Title User Storage".
With "Title Use Storage" Vita owners start a game on their PS3, save it to cloud storage, then continue it on their PS Vita. This function will only be available in certain games such as upcoming action RPG Ruin.
Rogers said that Sony's third-party team is encouraging developers to take advantage of PS Vita's new features.
Do they say if we have to buy the same game for both versions? I don't see how that will work with this economy lol
People were already saying similar stuff when the Wii U was announced. It's only logical considering that the PS3 and PSP could already do some of what Nintendo showed - and that's with Remote Play being tacked onto the PSP post-release. Only a minority of PS3 games actually support it...but PSX games all work, can stream video, etc.
