Don't think I've ever been as excited for any hardware as I am for Vita. Really can't wait, 95% sure I'm gonna import, unless the NA release isn't too far off from JP launch.

Vita looks fairly interesting, but after the overall disappointments both the DS (way too casual-oriented, bad controls, bad graphics and lacking in diversity) and PSP (when 90% of a gaming system's good games are remakes you know something is wrong) were I'm not sure about buying another handled.
To each his own, I actually tend to fall for re-makes/re-releases when they are done absolutely perfect. See: Tales of Eternia PSP, Final Fantasy IV, Riviera, Yggdra Union, Persona, P3P was also very surprising and well done considering the PSP's capabilities.
Especially to Tales of Eternia.. it's so fast, looks so smooth, sprites look very clean, and is just.. flawless and even better than the original PS1 version because of the improvements.
I don't think this game deserves it's own thread so I'll post the info here.

Enter the Lair. The Lair is your inner sanctum, your pride and joy, your seat of power. ”It’s an extension of you. It’s an outwardly facing construct that other players interact with,” Williams explained. “You’ll spend as much time equipping your Lair as you will your character.” The significance of your Lair is twofold: it adds to your offense when you’re playing, and it acts as your defense when you’re not. “If you and I were rivals, you wouldn’t attack me,” Williams said with a mischievous grin. “You’d attack my Lair.”
http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6169/...9e4176b0_z.jpghttp://farm7.static.flickr.com/6177/...8b27bbd76f.jpgYour Lair is deeply customizable, enabling you to tweak everything from its physical layout and visual style to the types of monsters and bosses that protect it while you’re off conquering the world. As you earn enchanted relics, you’ll be able to place them in your Lair to grant synergistic bonuses that enhance your character’s defensive and offensive options. You’ll be able to swap these items in and out of your Lair’s sockets at will, and where you place them in your Lair can radically change their effects. “There’s a relic called the Poison Ivy Trophy, and you could place it in your Armory and any weapon you use will drip poison,” Williams elaborated. “Or you can put it in your Beastiary to enhance your Lair’s monsters with poison damage.”
As you encounter other players over PSN, your Lair also becomes a vehicle for advertising your social status. Case in point: If you meet another player who is adorned with spiked armor, it’s a visual clue that his Lair is equipped with a powerful relic called Heart of Titan. “If you want to take that item from him, you can challenge him,” Williams explained. “You can bet on his Heart of Titan with another valuable item. If he agrees, the game will put both items into escrow while you beat the hell out of each other’s Lairs over the next 24 hours.” And, 24 real-world hours later, the player with the highest aggregate score will claim both items – and bragging rights. “The best part,” Williams said, “is that the competition and stakes were mutually agreed upon.”
This sounds like fun. I hope it works out in practice.

PlayStation Vita 3G Downloads Limited to 20 Megabytes
Similar to other mobile devices, Sony will be placing size limits on PlayStation Vita downloads through a 3G connection. In an interview at ASCII, a Sony Computer Entertainment representative said that 3G downloads will be limited to 20 megabyte file sizes initially. The representative added that this value could change in the future.
The ASCII interview covered a number of other topics related to the system's wireless support.
The Sony rep assured that, download size limits aside, both Wi-Fi and 3G users will be able to access the PlayStation Store to make purchases.
In response to a question about 3G's 128Kbps download and 64kbps upload speeds possibly being too slow for some games, for example fighting games, the rep said that Sony is providing software makers with support to ensure that titles that don't give the feeling of technical limitations are developed.
In Japan, Sony has partnered with NTT DoCoMo for 3G service. DoCoMo will sell pre-paid cards costing ¥980 for 20 hours and ¥4,980 for 100 hours of 128Kbps/64Kbps transfer. The 100 hour card includes a bonus three hours of high speed 14 Mbps download and 5.7 Mbps upload.
What?In response to a question about 3G's 128Kbps download and 64kbps upload speeds possibly being too slow for some games, for example fighting games
On a 32 player TF2 server bandwidth usage will cap out at 1/4th of those rates or less. Since when did fighting games require a shitton of bandwidth? And since when was the problem throughput and not latency over 3G?
128 kbps is a bit slow, but since you can't download games or anything of significance with a 20 mb file limit, i guess it doesn't matter, since that is far more than enough to play any games. It seemed strange at first, but i guess it makes sense for keeping costs down, as it likely won't even affect too many people anyway.
So wtf is the point of 3G if you can't download anything significant?
I don't see anyone hootin' to have voice-chat/friends list on the go. Web browser usage will probably be limiting in some stupid way also. Latency is too high for any real time games also.
I don't get why the speeds are laughably slow also. Isn't Japan miles ahead of most of the world in regards to mobille telecommunication transmission speeds?
Obviously that depends on the type of game. It might be annoying for an fps or something, but should generally be playable. Many other types of games of course don't really matter at all.
I can only assume it's because it's intended to be used just for online gaming (hence 20 mb file limit), which will absolutely never use that much bandwidth anyway.I don't get why the speeds are laughably slow also.
A lot of games don't use a lot of bandwidth, but 20mb/month is still pretty darn low, they're pretty much forcing you to do some gaming over wifi instead of 3g with a cap that low.
I was under the impression the 20mb thing was simply for file downloads, not your bandwidth allocation.
Even FFXI chews up 20mb in a day if you play a good session, and that was designed with dial-up in mind.
Yeah, 20 mb file limit, not per month. 20 mb/mo would be entirely pointless. They just don't want people downloading 10 gb games with it.
Ohhhh ok. Then I don't really care about this, lol.
It's also only for japan. They may or may not do something similar in the US, but no way to know as of now.
Wtf can you even download that isn't over 20mb on PSN? Avatars/themes are the only things I can think of. Most PS miniS are 30-50mb in size.
