Wont the Vita be out in Japan for a few months before it comes out in NA? Shouldn't everything be the same hardware and software wise except for what language is default?
I figured JP would have to deal with all the potential problems and most of it would be fixed by the time there is a NA release.

The hardware will probably be the same, though there will likely be some updates to the software by the time it comes out in NA.

Yeah fuck that. I paid almost $400 for my psp and I barely play it lol. It's the cool MHP3 one at least.

Sony Mega Officially Confirms No Game Archives Support at PlayStation Vita Launch

PlayStation Vita was pretty much confirmed to not support Game Archives games at launch. But it wasn't mega officially confirmed. Now Sony has totally confirmed it.

Sony added an item to its growing PlayStation Vita Q&A specifically dealing with Game Archives games. The question asks "Can Vita play PlayStation Game Archives games?" The response is something to the effect of, "It won't be supported at the time of the PS Vita launch. Regarding future support, we'll share details later."

The term "Game Archives" usually covers both PlayStation and PC Engine/Turbo Grafx game downloads through PlayStation Network. It looks like early Vita buyers will need to wait to go retro on the system.

So far the QA is only in Japanese, so it could be patched in by US release.

I have 5 of these things reserved here in Osaka, trying to figure out if I should cancel some of them or try the sell-to-the-US route.

i do plan on getting one, but none of the new releases tempt me that much, and i'll probably still play some old xenogears or something on it before something good comes out

They apparently used the same encryption key as the psp for .pkgs, and there's already a tool to decrypt them. It would not surprise me if there was a hack released before the console.
