This is what I'll be waiting on assuming that'll be possible, given Sony's fetish for copy-protected technology like MagicGate, which I wouldn't be surprised to see a new equivalent on for dealing with DRM'd stuff like game downloads and DLC.

But yeah, $30 for a 4gb card? You can get a 8gb USB stick for less than half that. Dunno wtf is up with the other prices given these memory cards are a decent size, where you're not paying a premium for it being super tiny like microSD......which is still way cheaper than this.


I'd probably be fine with an 8gb card, and I'll probably wait on a game/Vita bundle that includes one down the road since I'm not in the mood to rush in for a launch unit anytime soon.

Also, people complaining about the memory card prices are making me lol. I remember paying over $100 for a ONE GB card when the PSP came out. If you don't like it, don't buy it. $29.99 for a 4gb card, which for all intents and purposes will do what you need it to (at launch anyway, while you wait for cheaper shit to come) isn't a big deal.

As for the nerf armor. Shits beast if you are a clumsy mother fucker or 11 1/2. Seriously though, its one of the most popular accessories for handhelds past AC adapters and memory cards.

4 gb will hold ONE game. And that's still expensive as fuck. 4 gb micro sd costs $5. That is 6x more for sony's bullshit.

It is expensive, and stupid -- I'm not trying to say it isn't. For me personally, I have no problem paying ~2000 yen for 4gbs of memory when the system is 5000 yen cheaper than I thought it would be.

I'm going physical copies because they are cheaper here in Japan (even with DL versions ~1000 yen less, most games can be had for 15-20% off at launch, not to mention the actual ability to RESELL what you own) but I guess for someone who plans to download everything this would be a bigger shock.

Yeah, i don't really mind the price much either. I would have spent up to $350, maybe even $400 to import it before christmas. With a 4 gb memory card, it's still only $280, which is a lot less than i was willing to spend on just the system.

Still, it's ridiculous that they are charging 4-6x more than micro sd, for memory cards which are required to even play some games.

Well, isos for some of the bigger PSP games are nearing 2GB, and it can be expected that Vita games will be bigger.

At launch, the game cards will be 4 gb. Most games probably won't use all of that, but certainly some will. I'd guess average games will be ~1.5-3 gb. Of course file sizes really vary widely. Some ps3 games are 1 gb, and others are 45 gb+ for example. It all depends on the game. With a 4 gb memory card, you will probably be able to hold anywhere from 1-10 games or so.
