And that's why one would at least expect to able to download everything is what you should take from avelles' post.
I was not aware of the physical media differences, sorry!
That's pretty much what I meant. The backwards compatibility the 3DS provides was a major incentive for trading in my old machine. I never owned a PSP so I was hoping it would be a similar situation where I could play every single PSP title released on a Vita, thus experiencing the content I had missed out on from the previous generation.
What is their current policy for releasing new PSP games? Are they all available on PSN or is it only for "hot" titles?
Yeah, Vita uses new memory cards ;<
The difference here is that DS > 3DS was an upgrade of the same console, while here we have a new handheld altogether.
I think only some of the titles hit PSN, might depend on the company, but I'm not sure, not too informed on the topic.
In general, it's up to the company to decide. In terms of old PSP games, a lot of old games haven't hit PS Network (depends on company though; some go back and rerelease all their old PSP games on PSN) but most new games are released on PS Network. What is their current policy for releasing new PSP games? Crisis Core (for example) probably would have been put up on PSN if it had been released on 2009 or later but since it was released in 2007, it wasn't either because SE forgot about it or doesn't feel it's worth it to put it on PSN.
Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep wasn't released on PSN due to Disney being afraid of the game being more pirated apparently.
You'll want to check each game individually to see if they're up on PS Network. That wikipedia page is usually up to date.
FF Type-0 will probably be released on PS Network (as it was in Japan at least).
I recently read that some vitas had hard issues at launch, but nothing specific was mentioned. Anyone hear of any hardware issues besides the usual "oh no, a dea pixel!"?
Engadget video of launch issues
but most issues were patched within a little over a week.

nothing has been reported since.
I know that in Japan they have some sort of stupid expansive UMD program, where you have to pay to get your old UMD's again in digital format. I thought something like that, but y'know, cheaper, was coming to NA. For that to happen tho, we'd need all of the PSP's catalog on PSN, which I am all for, sadly Sony has not said shit about this at all. As far as NA is concerned, and as far as I know, PSV is compatible with old PSP games, but the only way you get them on the thing, is PSN, and PSN doesn't have all, or even all of the best, PSP games.
I really appreciate all the responses and information guys. I'll definitely still consider picking up a Vita, though I hardly play my 3DS.![]()
retailer specific pre-order incentives are starting to really bug me now... Lumines from amazon.com will get three mp3 tracks to be used in unlockable special stages. Sucks for canadians because amazon.ca never matches the incentives of .com![]()
http://www.insidegamingdaily.com/201...no-extra-cost/If anything is evident on this blog, it’s the fact that the PlayStation Vita hasn’t been selling like hotcakes over in Japan. In fact, they’ve just recently surpassed the 500,000 sale marker, a clear indication that units aren’t flying off shelves.
Interestingly enough, Sony still wants you to buy a Vita. Go figure.
In what’s likely the interest of sales, Sony has crafted a 3G Vita bungle that includes a handful of freebies at no extra cost. Specifically, GameStop and Amazon have both listed a $300 PlayStation Vita 3G bundle that includes the system, an 8GB memory card, an AT&T Data Connect Session Pass and a free PlayStation Network game.
What the PSN game voucher is for is still shrouded in mystery, as it could be for a certain selection of games, or applicable across all launch titles. Additionally, the Data Connect Session pass allots one free month of 250mb 3G service from AT&T.
Not a bad deal, not at all, especially considering those atrocious memory card prices. Does this persuade you into buying a 3G Vita?
If so, preorders for the bundle are available now at both GameStop and Amazon.

If they want to spark sales I think they need to focus less on their horrible 3G plan. Focus more on the wifi version.
Guess i better go cancel my wifi only preorder and get this instead, so i can get my free angry birds.a free PlayStation Network game
What's the price of the 8GB card? $30?
Was thinking about getting a 3g one.... hmm

Yeah, it's $30. Definitely a good deal right away if you were going to get a 3g anyway. Depending on what this "free game" is, it could be a great deal even if you never use the 3g. Who the hell knows though, since they don't specify which game(s) are available.
"Free Game" Requires you to activate your 3g.... which will likely cost you $15 (I doubt they will let you use the free 3G to get the game), just food for thought. I'm sticking with my wifi/32gb card since I had amazon credit and don't want to be limited to 8gb. Good deal if you wanted a 8gb card and plan to use 3g. (Though I would rather tether my phone and no have to pay extra).
The way I looked at it is the 50 for a 8gb + 3g 250mb + game (I guess it would be $65 if they do require 3g for a month) would better be used imo to get a 32gb card for 50-65% off.
"Your promotional 250 MB session automatically starts upon expiration of your 1st session plan."
Even if so, it'd still be cheaper if it lets you get a free $50 game."Free Game" Requires you to activate your 3g.... which will likely cost you $15 (I doubt they will let you use the free 3G to get the game), just food for thought.
it'll probably be one of the exclusive psn titles, like super stardust, sound shapes, etc.
