Wow, way to ruin my hopes.
Wow, way to ruin my hopes.
its still amazon, getting shit a day early even if street dated isnt unheard of
GiantBomb did a live rapidfire quicklook of a variety of launch Vita games - http://www.twitch.tv/giantbomb/b/308483074
The system seems slick, but man are a lot of those launch titles disappointing, giving me the same downgraded vibe I've gotten from quite a few PSP games, including shit load times.....from flash storage. Liking the system level stuff though, and the PS Store isn't ass to navigate. Hope it won't be more than a year before an HDMI-out version of the Vita comes out for me to purchase, should be a lot of decent titles to pick from by then.
The launch title lineup looks like a repeat of the 3DS. Absolutely nothing appeals to me whatsoever. I'm really glad I didn't end up getting a preorder for Christmas.
Hell, almost none of even the announced titles pique my interest...
What was the name of that diablo-clone they showed at E3?
The only game I would be sad I couldn't play would be persona 4 portable. I can take or leave the rest, especially without a PSP Passport program and those horrid memory card prices.
it was named ruin, it's now been changed to warrior's lair.
also they're very adamant about it not hooking up to a display as that's the ps3's feature. i wouldn't expect them to release an hdmi out model.
Well, then we can only hope the sales fail and they rethink their mind for the next revision. I'm buying one once FF Type-0 is announced with for it officially (should be an Intl. version with english options, I believe), but otherwise: no UMD program, no RPGs = I will pick my purchase time, sale, production revision, price drop... Or must have game (for me).
Sony's stubborness is pretty damn comical at this point.
There is just an inner turmoil going on right now. Part of me that wants new shiny things realllly wants me to get this next week. Then there is the other part of me that is looking at all these games and their reviews, and adding to that the very small list of games I actually bought (and fewer that I finished) on the 'old' PSP and just shaking my head.
Doesn't help that my best friend is getting one on launch day and I will get to hear all about it from him -.-
I would just wait, i mean things can only get better as time goes on (more games, possible price cut/remodel). Its not like it will be in short supply or anything.
I've been saving up pocket change for a while with the intent of using the money to buy a Vita when it came out. I have near $400 in change now but I don't think I'll be spending it on a Vita. It's just become increasingly uninteresting to me. Was thinking about getting an Xbox, but I don't even play my PS3 as much as I want to. I'll probably just hang onto it for awhile until more games come out for the vita or until it fails horribly.
the vita has a lot more potential for success in the us market, the psp is already a dead system here unlike in japan. there is a large list of psp titles that can be downloaded which satisfies 90%+ of the customer base interested in the vita. don't think that no umd is a deal killer for the system, most people don't care.
you just contradicted yourself there. why would there be a large market for games from a dead system? if no one bought psp games when they were new, why would they want to pay $350 just to pay for old psp games?
Not entirely. I think the point he was trying to make is that the library of PSP games might be enough to tide over some early adopters of the PSV, assuming they didn't pick up a PSP previously. Kind of gives them an excuse to go play some of those games they may have always wanted to, but not enough to buy the previous system.
Is that what you meant, roughly, Izembo?
yeah pretty much. there is a fairly large selection of psp games available for download that will appease 90%+ of the customer base. very few people, and i mean very few, are upset about it not having a umd drive. you unfortunatly fall into that so you feel its more needed than it is.
Do people remember how the PSP actually started off?
How long did it take Sony to start selling PSP game, digital downloads? Wasn't it a few months after the ps3's release?
That's about 2 years+ worth of a customer base who should be raging for having to re-pay for already owned games.
You are grossly misunderstanding why people are angry about the PSP > Vita transition. You're right, very few people care that the UMD is a relic of the past never to return. But nobody, nobody will rebuy PSP games from PSN just to play them on the Vita. So the Vita's initial market can only count on the segment of gamers excited about paying 90% of MSRP for very old games made for an old handheld from Sony they didn't buy, on a new system from Sony that costs twice as much. This is the segment Deejay correctly intuits won't exist.
I admit I do keep forgetting. I myself didn't get a PSP until nearly 2 years after it came out. It was FFT remake that made me do it. I think I spent about 4 months with it before I hacked it. It was 'free' from a friend that never used it so I figured I had nothing to lose. I still own FFT and have yet to finish it largely due to MHF2 which basically became the only game I really played for the next year plus.
Once a good MH game hits this thing, if I don't already own one, I will buy one.
