It's just a glitch with Auto-Guard. It basically will immediately guard stuff when you shell even though it's not possible by holding guard yourself. Makes GL easy mode. Definitely not "pro as fuck" to do so though!

Apparently, according to the person who made that video... someone from Capcom supposedly stated that it is not a glitch and it is 'working as intended.'
That person is talking out their ass. Some random faggot on GameFAQs said that because he's riding Capcom's dick so hard he doesn't think they're capable of making mistakes in their games. Yet he (nor anybody else) can manage to find a source for such a thing.
Yeah i saw that video yesterday I think? General consensus is that they nerfed Lances from Tri and buffed up GL. Right now I am just gathering up materials for a bunch of Ele Bows. I missed Bow in Tri, and am fast remembering how fun it is (for me). Cats, if outfitted right for the fights, can actually help out a bow/ranged user quite a bit.
Well bow fights are surely a bit slower, taking longer to drop that HP down on mobs... but if you go in prepared with ATK up buffs, and the right Element for the mob it isn't bad at all.
I actually just killed Jhen (offline) with a bow =)
TeamHGG are working on a translation patch, they're waiting til they're done to release it though, but they're moving along nicely.

There's other people making patches too, so until HGG are done I'm using this one:

He's working on it by himself and it's moving along pretty fast still, but it has the occasional typo. If anyone was waiting for an English patch before playing it's far along enough now to play just fine now. There's still a few Armour Skills untranslated (mostly stuff that's easy to tell what it is anyway, like the various elemental attack/def ups). Biggest problem I see with it so far is Hunting Horn notifications are still untranslated, but there's a nice FAQ up on GameFAQs you can glance over with song listings for each note set here:

Nice, I am on 0.29a and will likely just stay there. The reason being that since I am on m33-6 I have to:
1) take a clean ISO and patch the translation
2) patch in the Prom-4 files
3) remove and then re-install the Media Install
All in all that takes about 30-45 minutes every time I update to a new Translation. As I am done with Elder Quests and starting on Guild Quests, the skills and 400 or so items is enough for me until HGG. I actually wonder if HGG releases their patch. If i recall they were notoriously stuck up about their patch for MHP2G.
EDIT: Oh just realized there is a new DL Quest right? To get the Pirate J DS. Don't have a Wifi spot near me to test it out though. I had also heard that this was coming soon =)
Spoiler: show
Oh and Merry Christmas from Capcom =)
Yeah I'm using m33 version too, it's not too bad to repatch but I can see why having to redo the media install would be annoying. And yeah, there's 3 DLC quests up now. First one gets you Detective Conan armour for your cat, second a Gunlance (not sure if it's from an animu or something, I don't recognize it) and the third is the Pirate DS.
Edit: I have the greatest switchaxe ever:

TeamHGG's first patch is out. Has all items and descriptions translated as well as all armour skills and their descriptions. Weapon and armour names aren't done, but they're working on em. SnS and LS are finished right now.

Nice! I am just going to wait until their next version most likely. I don't want to spend the time to patch this if the current .29 version I have gets the job done just fine. Good to know though, and nice that they have both a patch and a plugin version.
I'm glad I switched, wasn't gonna bother but it's nice to have the entirety of the menus and info screens translated as well as the rest of the armour skills done. The MGS DLC quest is up too btw, HR4 (8*) against Ice Barroth and Ice Agnaktor. You have to use Light or Heavy Bowgun to do it, gonna be balls.
Kia, is there any transfer from MHFU (Like, even just some z and tickets, or just, name & model), or new game only?
And you are on m33 yeah? So just clean rom, patch with the .exe and then patch with the Prom-4 files and you are good? Or did you opt for the plugin route. @Cantih, I think that you get some Felyne shit, and maybe some stuff for your pig when you transfer save data. I didn't bother myself.
EDIT: Well I guess I am about to find out... transferring now. Going to test it out then install the media, and then DL that MGS shyte. I do like that with HGG's patches you don't need a clean ISO after the first patch as their subsequent patches can be placed over top of the previous ones. I still assume however that you would have to undo/reinstall Media so really it makes no difference as that is easily the biggest time sink in the process.
EDIT2: Worked just fine, patched and media reinstalled.
I didn't bother doing the transfer (since I would have had to convert my MHFU save to the Japanese version before doing it). Most notable thing it gives you is an award on your award page giving your playtime and weapon usage. The slot isn't empty even if you make a new character, so you can still 100% the page.
http://www.siliconera.com/2011/01/02...ing-platforms/Hatena blog, Crying out Love at the Edge of Tokyo, is reporting that, in a recent talk with Gemaga magazine, Monster Hunter series producer, Ryozo Tsujimoto, hinted at a change in platform for the series in the near future. The news comes via Hachimaki, who confirmed the quote.
“The 3DS is releasing, too, so I think the right time to switch [Monster Hunter] to new hardware is coming as well,” Tsujimoto told Gemaga, in their recent December 27th issue, when asked about his hopes for 2011. He goes on to say that new hardware in general will make 2011 an exciting year for business.
Tsujimoto’s comment shouldn’t come as a surprise. While Monster Hunter is typically at home on the PSP in Japan, Capcom have spent a considerable amount of time and resources on expanding the series’ audience this past year. It’s only natural to want to expand to new hardware as it becomes available.
We wouldn’t recommend interpreting this as a 3DS confirmation just yet, however. Clearly, Capcom are thinking about moving the series to newer platforms, but Tsujimoto’s quote doesn’t outright confirm what system(s). We expect to see Monster Hunter games across a range of platforms as Capcom continue to market the brand to different audiences in Japan.
Do we have a thread separate for Tri discussion?
We do yes.
This one.
