Jhen Moron is such a boring fight.
For those that care:
Yet another game has gotten that almost perfect score from
Famitsu. Monster Hunter Portable 3rd, likely to be this year's
biggest release, scored three 10s and a 9 in the magazine.
The person who gave the game a 9 complained that the controls can
be too complicated.
Strong points mentioned in the four reviews:
In terms of volume, the game does not go half way.
The newly added elements increase the breadth of play.
The single player mode has become more enjoyable because of the
improved Felyne system.
Almost all features have been made more user friendly.
The game has lots of player communication features like the onsen
component.
For fans, the game will deliver a hunting experience that exceeds
expectations.
I thought I'd read somewhere before that the game was going to have built-in infrastructure support for online play... now I'm hearing that it doesn't..?
Anyone know what's up here?
Adhoc only. Might have been rumoured to have infrastructure at some point but it was never confirmed, mostly just people hoping.
Seems like it would be fairly uncommon these days for people who own PSPs to not also own a PS3.
Probably much more common than you seem to believe! Of all the people I know with PSPs very few of them have PS3s too, which is unfortunate with how many awesome multiplayer PSP games we're getting lately.
Well the dongle thingy to play ad-hoc through Kai is less than $20, so it's not like it's that difficult to play online either way.
I think Kai scares people, I know it used to intimidate me (not to mention it required a specific dongle and some Routers were not supported). I never did get it set up. I opted to just solo my way and that was far more fun!
Having Ad Hoc Party (FINALLY a US version wtf...) is much more convenient. But yeah, $20 Dongle and some reading vs $300 Dongle is no contest. I get why Capcom sees no need to dump the money into adding Infrastructure (and from the sound of it game difficulty-ramp up changes that would come with adding it?). With pretty much everyone and their mother's having 2 PSPs in Japan where MH is God... well yeah. Why bother?
From what I understand the new dongles for Kai are almost PnP they're so easy to set up.
The one I got a couple of years back was easy as hell to set up when I actually worked out how. I couldn't get the drivers and shit they supplied to work, so after trying tons I realized I just had to use Windows Network setup crap to set it all up rather than a 3rd party program (all the tutorials said to use certain programs and drivers). Would have taken 2 minutes to set up at most had I actually not been so retarded, lol.
Yes, as with most hardware these days, step 1 is throwing the disc in the garbage.
I think my archaic Wifi Max dongle is dead though, dunno if I'll get one of the new ones or just use AHP for 3rd.
Looking at their Wiki, the days of only being able to use the Wifi Max are gone. Tons of supported Dongles it looks like, which is great for anyone without a PSP. Couldn't hurt to toss the official Xlink site (here) into the OP at some point eh?
lol, most people aren't going to want to go out to buy something just to play one game online... but yeah, it's not hard to set up. (I did this for MHFU and I kind of regret it because I barely ever fucking played the thing on kai)
And by 3rd I mean MHF3 because I'm too lazy to mod my PSP.
If i didn't have a PS3, I would definitely spend $17 on Amazon to be able to play online with others. Well worth it to me and a lot of others that have boners for the Monster Hunter series. The only reason I didn't 4 years ago was down to Kai being a bit less forgiving in setup.
I actually have an old Linksys WRT54G that I could give away pretty much. I will have to check the model number to see if it is the one that is compatible with the custom firmware.

Makes me in the mood to play Tri again. Haven't played MHFU or Tri in months, gonna be rusty.
Hammer, Lance, and Dual Sword gameplay

Shit Dual Swords look awesome now. Looks like you can cancel out of Demon Dance. I just wonder if those hitboxes are actually decent or they're abusing the invincibility frames on dodge to not get hit during that clip.
