Greeeeeaaaaaaat... -.-
Greeeeeaaaaaaat... -.-
What is the significance of the white hared girl for the series?
iirc, Kirin was pretty rare to get in the very original MH on PS2.
Also, the Japanese just seem to love that armor set, it's a fan thing.
That's why.
The honest truth is that it's the best looking armor for MH porn comics.
Still don't think giginox is annoying enough yet. D:
I LOVE Urukususu! The guy is crazy... its like some crazy mashup of:
BIG PICTURE MATH!Spoiler: show
The guy isn't too hard, he is more funny... this is of course at Village Elder *2. I am sure later on he is a much more annoying ass. His armor gives Evasion+1 though, so I may grab it and see if I can get to +2. Be nice to have evasion armor for some of the faster jerks.
Anyone else is annoyed seeing lance with evasion set? I'm all for evasion lance when counter wasn't implanted but now people should be going guard+1/2 + other skills first for lancing imo. Makes me cringe.
p.s. dual wield is hella fun/stronger now.
Ah wow, that is surprising. Speaking of armor sets. www.mhf3.com is coming along nicely. I am still finding errors and omissions everywhere. Took me about 30 minutes to find out what the hell monster I needed to get a Hide from to finish my Jaggia set as it was improperly listed on the site that I mainly used. Killed 20 Jaggias before I realized they were NOT what actually dropped the Hide i was looking for.
Kiarax, how is Bow? Didn't you say you were using it a bit? I am about to go Hammer this guy's face again:

Got sidetracked... trying to figure out what the hell skill this is on a Necklace I just got. Anyone have any idea?
The skill name is the one highlighted in green (Necklace has + 8 and on the left is the bonus I would get if I hit 10 points... So far I have no gems and no armor that is in the store that adds anything.
EDIT: Just realized it may be a Bow/Coating related skill. Those skills would not be in Grave's skill list from MH3. I am assuming that that is what the characters in yellow are telling me in the top right. I believe that 弓 is bow. So just need to track down Bow Skills list in Japanese now... can't continue until I figure it out =P
EDIT2: 99% sure I figured it out using the MHP2G Wiki. 減気 = Exhaust Coating so 減気ビン追加 = Exhaust Bottle Add/Plus or whatever. If you add the Bow Skills to your skills like Grave, let me know! I may work on it myself as well once I start using Bow.
and that's why I just wait for localizations.
Haha, yeah I suppose some would. But fuck waiting for Capcom, or even a fan translation patch. I have no patience. The lack of any real story makes this game easy enough to play with a few spreadsheets. If you played MH3 then you are already familiar with 90% of the maps, and those returning bosses. There are so many good sites to pool data from, it is just a matter of compiling it.
I honestly haven't touched any other weapons since I started using DS. I also hate that rabbit thing, I only had the first upgrade to my DS (70 attack, still yellow sharpness) and fought the multiplayer version at... 3* I think. It was one of the hot spring quests anyway (Bulldrome + Urukususu), when I finally beat him I had 3 minutes left on the clock and absolutely no supplies, not even a whetstone left. I'm sure it'll be more fun in the village quests, but I've been putting it off because he was annoying as hell the first time, lol. I have some damn nice DS now, having never played Tri I wasn't sure what to expect with Barroth, but I downed him in a matter of minutes, was ridiculous.
Also, easy way to get a gist of the skill is if it's greyed out it doesn't effect you. I got an Auto-Guard +10 charm and it's greyed out if the weapon doesn't have a shield, made it really obvious what it was.
I don't think I've beaten Barroth solo yet lol. I haven't tried since around I first got it since I loved playing online more.
I want to try dual swords, was disappointed it wasn't in Tri. Really excited to play this new one eventually.
I haven't touched DS in... ages. MHP2 maybe? I will have to check them out. They always seemed crazy ridiculous to me (in a good way). I now have Urukurusu's armor, going to work on getting 4 Evasion Gems and it will give me Evasion + 2 gemmed, which is always fun to have for the speedy monsters, until you get used to their patterns and don't get hit anyway.
Yet another good site for info that I just found: http://mhp3.otacoo.com/
My usual way of things in the MH universe is to clear out the Elder Quests first, beef up the farm so that is that much less time i have to spend on gathering. Then I move on to Guild Quests. I find it very odd that I am finding Rusted Chunks (1 Gun Lance, and one Bow so far, neither turned out to be a Rusted Weapon) at 2* Elder mining in Tundra. That seems WAY early for a shot at Rusted? Maybe they are just 'buried weapons' though and can't be appraised to Rusted Weaps.
I wonder how much Evade will help DS, when you're powered up the little dashes seem to have a decent amount of invulnerability already and the animation itself is very quick too. Might not be much help since the best thing to do is try to always stay powered up.
Might wanna grab the DLC for the game if you want farm points btw. Seemed to give 4000 for free (also had an image of the meat cooking thing, might give you that for free but I had it already so I dunno). Doesn't connect through PSN so you can grab it without PSNlover even on CFW. Also has 2 download quests and 2 pig outfits, but I haven't done either of the quests yet. And didn't Freedom Unite have 2 tiers of rusted weapons? Either way you probably need high rank dragon items to upgrade them again so it's not like they'll be particularly good until then. But yeah, not looking forward to having to gather meat later in when you stop getting supplies. I had the Freedom 2 DLC that lets you buy Raw Meat carry over to Freedom Unite, so it was easy to just buy hundreds at once and have my Felynes cook them 10 at a time. Won't be able to do that this time.Maybe I'll find a CWCheat and just give myself a few hundred when I get to that point.
Well just did another Hot Springs Quest that bumped my Stamina up, so now i have HP 120, and STA 125 base. That means 1 meat gets me to a full stamina bar. Is nice. I like to use Evasion gear with Hammer because it is so slow, it makes it quite easy to roll through a lot of broad spinning shitty moves that most bosses do.
Yeah I have that hot spring upgrade too, shit's really handy but I hate having to go in there every time between quests. Feels like you have to go out of the way to do it (I suppose felyne meals were a little out of the way too though). I suppose it's vastly better for multiplayer this way which is what matters.
Got too caught up in the game and forgot to catch up with this thread, but man, this game is amazing. Easily my GOTY. One of those few games for me in the last 10+ years where days simply fly by while I'm playing...
I will update my list of Armor Skills soon with the new ones from Tri and remove a few more that don't seem to exist in 3rd.
I couldn't agree more. I pretty much did nothing else this weekend. That said, there is so much 'set the game down to head over to the internets/Excel spreadsheet' going on that I would guess only 75% of my playtime is playtime. The rest is research =P
Right now I have a decent LS that looks like a Chainsaw (has Lightning DMG). I have a few bows. I also have a decently upgraded Hammer. For armor I have been using either Urukususu's set (have bother Gunner and Blademaster) or Jaggi. Next I am either going to finish a Ludroth Gunner set or Barroth's set. Just unlocked Rathian Urgent (Village) so there is that too. I keep meaning to try a few Hunting Horns, loved those for some bosses in MHP2G.
Awesome. I've been using that chainsaw LS as well for everything offline, looking to upgrade soon. When playing online with my wife, I've been testing out a little bit of everything else. LS just seems the easiest for solo kills (it did in Tri for me too). I have noticed that online, LS hits your allies a LOT less than in Tri, so at least it won't be AS annoying to get in a room with 3 LS users...
I just got full Rathian armor (not necessarily for the skills, more for the higher DEF which has helped) and cranked them to near-max with armor spheres. Took about 10 Rathian runs to get a plate. I'm in the 4 stars for the town quests and have done about half of them. Back to work though, which means more research and less playing
To anyone still pretty new, I rec. doing the Onsen quests and the Drink quests (in the guild) as soon as new ones pop up. Before each quest, go sit in your onsen (a quick squat will do the trick) for increased max health and stamina. The drinks are for the other bonuses.
