Back to work though, which means more research and less playing
Ahaha, so true... Typing this as we speak from my office, with about 6 tabs open with different JP Wikis. Currently compiling Felyne Drink data as well as Felyne Skills that you can teach to your Felynes. I still haven't found an explanation/translation of the different training options though. They almost make offline too easy. I have had a Felyne's bomb toss kill a boss twice now. It is great =) Also, one running around in Barroth and the other in Urukususu armor is silly looking.
Got too caught up in the game and forgot to catch up with this thread, but man, this game is amazing. Easily my GOTY. One of those few games for me in the last 10+ years where days simply fly by while I'm playing...
I will update my list of Armor Skills soon with the new ones from Tri and remove a few more that don't seem to exist in 3rd.
There's a new skill that I couldn't find anywhere, eventually managed to work out and test what it was. It's a negative effect on Barioth armour. Skill itself is called 気力回復 (Stamina Recovery). Barioth set gives -10, which gives you スタミナ回復遅延. Dunno how you'd translate that, but either way it makes your stamina gauge refill slightly slower. By the time you would normally recover 100%, you'll be at 75% instead. I checked like every single website for the game and none of them have it listed, kind of annoying! Threw up a random video since I wanted to compare it myself to see if it was worth gemming out or not.
And yes I am going to regret that half-width name forever.
Interesting, and good to know. I know that i will definitely be going after Barioth once I am able to.
I also noticed a new skill called... "KO". I ASSUME that it ups your chance of KOs, which would be nice for my Hammer setups. I can't remember what set I saw it on, maybe Barroth. I can check later.

Half-width! My eyes are burning!
Hah, kidding.
I'm loving the cats, and glad we can have 25. I thought about naming schemes; thought about naming them all after old FFXI people, but decided to just name them all randomly. I tried to name one of them Capcom and it wouldn't let me ;( Been buying 2 new cats a day for the hell of it, and sending them out four-at-a-time on their awesome cat quests.
The customization is amazing though, got them running around all tricked out with huge swords and shit. Amazing.
Interesting on the stamina recovery delay. Haven't gotten to Barioth yet myself.

Yeah, I remember seeing that. Increases chance of dizzying an enemy.
Quick question... has anyone nabbed a Water Sac - 水袋 from a Royal Ludroth? I need 2 I think for his armor set and have so far been unlucky. Just wondering if anyone of you have ACTUALLY seen one from rewards there.
I was just gunning for Barioth since I assumed it'd have Marathon Runner. I was sick of looking absolutely retarded in the Royal Ludroth set, but that skill is too nice to pass up for DS. This set has 6 slots so I'm debating what to gem in it now, probably just go with Sharpening Skill Inc assuming it has 1 slot +2 gems like before. And I have a bunch of Water Sacs but I honestly couldn't say where I got them from... I've killed 10 Royal Ludroth and I have the full armour set + 6 more sacs. If I come across any more I'll let you know.
Yeah, I've got a few water sacs too. Killed Ludroth about 5 times.
Also, I've been pretty underwhelmed with the armor skills on the first ~10 sets. I remember in Tri I got Barroth ASAP because it has Marathon Runner on it, but it doesn't have it in 3rd.
I think they just swapped Constitution and Marathon Runner round on Barroth/Ludroth. Seems a little more fitting to me that the one practically made of stone gives you the armour skill for less stamina loss on guard. I just went for Jaggi for Attack Boost, then to Royal Ludroth and now to Barioth. Jinougre was a little rough in the Ludroth set since it has negative lightning resistance, but I just drank Thunder Cider at the Hot Springs which gives you +5 resistance and it made it a lot easier. Speaking of, I have -20 fire resistance now, can't wait to take on some stuff in this new set! I see a Rathalos quest calling my name.

That step-back fireball move of his is going to have you screaming profanities :D
FYI, if you are confused (as I was) by most sites having different results for the buffs from Felyne Drinks that is because there are only 2 "for sure" skills that most drinks have, but can have up to 2 more from a pool of different possibilities.
Confusing? This list for example: Felyne Drinks
If you look at the Pocop Cola, I always seem to get ATK Up and Felyne 2 (of course, since that is yet ANOTHER random Felyne Skill) and up to two other random buffs.
EDIT: LMAO wtf is up with Dual Swords?! I just upgraded to デュエルツインダガー which has 140 ATK and a bit of green sharpness. I was getting full clear on Elder 2* and brought them with me for some "get 5 mushrooms from Aptaroth" quest and came across Mr. Bear. I killed him before he could even get off of the map I found him on... took MAYBE 2 minutes. It was sad almost.

I may now be hooked on DS.
Yeah.. I haven't touched a damn thing since I used DS lol, they're ridiculous this time around. I loved them in Freedom Unite but you had to pretty much specialize each monster with certain elemental sets and stuff if you wanted decent kill times. That goes all out the window this time! They don't seem to lose sharpness as fast this time either, it was so annoying having to sharpen so frequently in FU but I haven't had that problem now.

Japan has two typesets for English input, halfwidth and fullwidth romanji. It's why you sometimes see Japs typing like this. From what I understand it's because every Japanese symbol is the exact same width (a perfect square basically). English text has variable width, so it doesn't match up or align as well. That's why fullwidth exists, so it's all the same size. They seem to default to the fullwidth and I stupidly put my name in as halfwidth which... wasn't there intention, apparently.
I now have 130 Health and 125 Stamina. Had to do an annoying arena fight with Great Jaggi/Furagi/Baggi to finish off all of the 1* Spa quests I currently have. I think there are 1-2 more in 2* that I need to tackle. Don't remember if they were annoying monsters or just annoying in general, but I will probably do those before i do anything else.
At 4* elders now, saw a few friendly faces in there like Gigginox, and what I thought was Gobul but is apparently a desert version of him or something? I haven't done either of those yet.
I have 140/125 on my springs, it's real handy. The desert fish...thing is called Hapurubokka, lots of people apparently having trouble with him but I found him really easy with DS. I thought Gigginox was pretty rough but I never did play Tri. Admittedly it would have been way easier if I actually had antidotes with me, lol.
Giggi I should have no problem with I hope. I found him pretty manageable in Tri. Gaaaaw... hate being at work. Maybe I can just put my PSP down if someone wanders in my office and tell them I am "just listening to music on it". =P
