hmm... wondering what I want to do about audio now. I'm using a TV as a monitor, how hard is it to route the sound through my TV's speakers? I'm assuming if I use the HDMI to DVI dongle I still won't get audio, since it's not outputting audio through my graphics card? The motherboard has a few standard audio output jacks, but my TV only has 1 input for that so it wouldnt be stereo. There's also something called "SPDIF OUT" but i dont think that's related. I guess my options are optical cable, or something that converts those audio jacks to standard Red/White for tv inputs. ANy ideas?

not the best person to answer this as i have yet to use the hdmi output on my system (a radeon hd 5850), but it did install an audio driver for the card, which i'm sure just routes any audio output from the integrated sound system to the hdmi port. so i think if you wanted to hdmi is an option for you. aside from that i agree that an optical cable to a receiver might be the other option.

i could completely be wrong if anyone wants to correct that... my personal setup is messy as i have my pc & my 360/vga adapter connected to a kvm switch to my monitor, 360's audio routing through an input on my motherboard, and sometimes my ps3 connected to the same monitor with hdmi, and full hdmi for anything when connected to my tv (yet to try my pc though)

Your card should have an hdmi out. Nvidia might ise a mini hdmi port in which case youll need an adapter to full size. All new cards with hdmi should have sound built in to pass soind through the hdmi port.

the video card just has 2 DVI slots, and the instruction manual says to use HDMI to use the included hdmi-to-dvi adapter dongle, but there's no dedicated port just for HDMI. Can I still output audio through that?

yeah that didn't really answer my question. Will using the included DVI-to-HDMI dongle keep me from outputting audio through my video card to my tv?

and that's not a bad video card by any stretch of the imagination, so I'm not sure why I would have gone with something completely different just to plug something directly into my card instead of through a piece of plastic they gave me for free with the card.

oh whoops, just looked at the back of the card and it DOES have a mini-hdmi port next to the 2 dvi ports. Just need a cable now and I'm set, i guess I'll order one when I have enough to buy off of amazon to qualify for free shipping lol
