Remember when people were gonna quit FFXI for PSU? LOL
LOL what PSU was to PSO is like what FFXIV is to FFXI
I'm cautiously optimistic. If PSU never happened I'd probably say take my money too, but PSU did happen so...
The only thing I'm really worried about is this vs. TERA. I know they won't exactly be the same, but they appear to have somewhat similar gameplay. And yes, I know not everyone is excited for TERA, but for me this is really the only thing I'm worrying about.
But yeah, most of my excitement for this game is because of nostalgia. I do want to see more about it though, definitely watching it closely.
Yeah, you better be in, son.
And I dunno if the hate was justified for PSU or not by some, but I most definitely hated it. I had fun with you guys for the time we played, but my god was I sick of so much shit in it, lol
I avoided PSU for the most part and never got into PSO as much as other people (though I'm a big fan of the Phantasy Star series).
This one might be worth me checking out.
(i'll preface this by saying: obviously, comparing ps1-4 to pso/psu is stupid, but) phantasy star is my favorite series, and the only disappointment i've had in any of it is PSU. i'd say it's justified, but that might be because a lot of us had just gone through our first 2-3 years of FFXI and we were probably feeling like we were going to get something that could compete with it, but didn't end up even competing with PSO [IMO of course]
PSU didn't even come close to popular as PSO did in it's prime. Granted, now PSO's just for the nostalgia nerds to get off on, but if they had free PSU servers, I don't think I'd even play that ;/
Hopefully this doesn't release around the same time as Tera D:
As a PSO diehard back in the Dreamcast days, I think this is going to flop. Sonic Team has released too many duds and the aren't releasing this for console, which was a huge reason why PSO was so successful. Not to mention 10 years ago playing online with your friends was still taboo and now people expect auction houses and content galore. The landscape for massively multiplayer games has changed dramatically since the first PSO and I don't think Sonic Team has the resources to keep up. Will it be a fun game for awhile? Probably. But I predict most hardcore gamers will play beta or play for a couple months and quit.
My biggest gripe with PSU was I actually bought the thing. Id probably have better memories of it if I had known there wasn't so much as a cd key validating copies. Dreamcast pso nut from way back though, so if this turns out to be as good as pso, it'll be a day 1 buy for me.
I'm still shocked that I was able to sell my PS2 copy of PSU last month considering outside the online, it didn't really have anything going for it.
Wait, this isn't coming out on consoles? Are they retarded?
Yeah, I think it could still be a console released sort of game, maybe via PS3 or something. I'd rather play on PC anyway.
Do we even have confirmation that Sonic Team are developing it? Hopefully they'll get Alfa System in on it again, because PSP2 is a damn fine game. I'd like to think they've learned quite a bit from the jump from PSU, to PSP and then PSP2. I think a lot of people missed out on those and don't realize that they were legitimately good. And I expect a console release at some point. Development first and foremost for PC, sure, but they're missing out a huge market without 360 and PS3 versions. Especially when the 360 servers for PSU are the only ones still going... they must know they have a market for it there.
