PSOW is one of the worst communities ever.
PSOW is one of the worst communities ever.
What exactly does Ability support do on a Mag? Does it increase PA/Technique strengths? And if so, would Striking support also increase my PA's with melee weapons?
Also, I've unlocked the Caves, but are there any matter board quests related to it?
Ability is accuracy. Striking increases your melee PAs.
PSOW was a really solid community over a decade ago back in the early days when V2 was first coming out. Now? Yeah, it's shit overall.
At the time when V2 was hitting, there were some really solid contributors that posted often and provided a lot of good info for importing version 2. Once it came out in NA, PSOW morphed into a giant CHEATERS Q_Q repository and was packed with cry babies. Eventually PSU came out and the ^_^ JAPAN 4 LIFE I LIKE ANIME crew rolled in with the Q_Q crowd and it turned into a giant "Japan can do no wrong" public service announcement.
Most of that combination shitbarn crew is rolling over to PSO2 and I'm awfully confident I will hate most of the player base.
That's because they got the lion's share of their info from MAMAK. I was friends with a major contributor to said site back in the day.
Gunblades and guns require it I believe, can't double check 'cause hurr maint (right in the middle of a Dragon fight too ;_;).
Did anyone tried PSO2 and Tera?
If so, how they fare in the gameplay?
I know they are kinda different, one being an MMO and other a Dungeon Crawler, Im just asking about the combat feel.
Personally, both games are great, TERA from the k-beta standpoint at least, was good, lots of stuff to mess around with, well paced as far as speed.
PSO2 feels like devil may cry, guilty gear, and PSO had a love child and you can go balls out combo combo combo. Lol teamwork does become pretty heavy with bosses tho, and the game does get crazy when 2 bosses appear at once.
Both games are very viable. TERA obviously has the PVP advantage. But combat is fluid for the most part across both games - PSO beats out TERA on this though, because caster combat in TERA felt like a big pile of meh.
As for Ability, it's part accuracy, part elimination of the lower end of your damage range.
PSO2 is pretty much PSO meets .hack//G.U.
Yeah I remember those days. I actually miss them. Legits vs cheaters. I used to love watching the arguments of cheaters trying to justify their cheating. Toward the end, I eventually burned my own Gameshark CD and messed around with making my own weapons til the Gamecube version came out.
Definitely agree with the PSU crowd. Couldn't avoid those fuckers for shit. Never really made too many friends in that game but luckily, you didn't need to with how broken some of the PA's were.
I remember when PKers would enter games and just kill everyone in ver.1
INVITE PLOX
Thanks for the impressions guys!
I dont really care about PVP, and I dont mind if is Open world or instanced dungeons, I just want the game with the better combat system.
Not really in the mood on put infinite hours in a game I dont enjoy anymore its combat system, just for better gear, like FFXI. But Tera sounds like it can be genuinely fun to just battle around, althoug PSO2 seems better for just coming back and forth, being F2P and all, and gameplay seems equally fun (if not more, I love hack and slash and PSO2 seems more like that).
I really hope they can keep cheating in check this time round, it would be nice to play a PS game where people actually find impressive items rather than just dupe the hell out of them.
Being as it's F2P I'll have no concerns with dropping the game as soon as cheating shows up, in a game that's all about acquiring rare items and exploring it really kills it for me.
Any spare invites?
Never got to play the first PSO but this seems pretty fun from what I've seen.
DAMMIT MAINTENENCE!!
I randomly got a story mode quest by Shion... I was about to start it when maint started.
bastards -_-
Why did maintenance have to kick in right as I was getting into the game.
Gonna be fun juggling TERA, PSO2, and GW2. :D
Didn't play today. Been sorda sick, so I've done a lot of sleeping.. but in regards to how PSO2 plays, I agree with what people said. The bosses are certainly more fun, that's for sure. Granted I haven't played PSP/PSP2i/whatever, but from what I remember of PSU.. it was dogshit in comparison. Granted PSO was a classic.. this PSO feels like so much fun with the action element.
As far as cheating goes.. it'll happen at some point, or there will be meseta farmers (as silly as that sounds) I'm guessing.. but yesterday, all the way to the maint, I didn't experience an ounce of lag. Which was the first time since the servers have been up. So that's a plus.
After playing a couple of days now, what strikes me is that they took the best parts of PSO and the best parts of Phantasy Star Portable, put them together, improved and didn't try to be zomg super innovative, and came out with a fantastic product.
For those who never played the PSP games, if you don't mind the weaker graphics and no jumping, those games are really quiet good, like a PSO2 -1![]()
