Phantasy Star Online 2 - New Genesis 2021

I just picked this up, and I'm enjoying the shit out of it. Anyone still playing that could spin me up on some of the basics of the more complicated stuff? Item crafting, skill trees etc. I'm playing a bow/katana guy.

An English-language patch has given thousands of non-Japanese fans the ability to enjoy Phantasy Star Online 2 in the sixteen months since the game's July 2012 debut, but a new job listing from Sega and Relic Entertainment has many fans wondering if Phantasy Star Online 2 could finally be getting a proper Western localization.

For more than a year, English-speaking fans of the Phantasy Star franchise have been forced to track down and install an English-language patch and familiarize themselves with the use of proxy servers I they wanted to play Phantasy Star Online 2. It looks like those headaches could finally be coming to an end though, now that Sega and Relic Entertainment are looking for a bilingual (English/Japanese) Server Engineer in Vancouver, British Columbia to help support an "existing live MMO project" being developed in Japan.

As DualShockers was quick to point out, a glance at Sega's software catalog confirms that Phantasy Star Online 2 is the only MMORPG currently being supported by the company in Japan, leading many to believe that Sega and Relic Entertainment could finally be preparing to open up Phantasy Star Online 2 to gamers in North America and Europe. Some portions of the new job listing also seem to suggest that Sega and Relic are looking to form a sizeable team outside of Japan, as the company's ideal candidate will "establish working relationships with key members of Japanese development team."

Unfortunately, Sega has yet to offer any official comment on the new job listing, or any potential plans for Sega and Relic Entertainment to finally bring Phantasy Star Online 2 stateside. Worse, even if the theories are true, we have no idea what platform(s) might get a PSO2 localization, despite the fact that many fans would gladly play Phantasy Star Online 2 on the PC, PlayStation 3 and PS Vita.

We've reached out to Sega about the company's new job listing, and ensuing Phantasy Star Online 2 localization rumors, and will update this post if/when we hear back from the parent company of Relic Entertainment.

Well, I'm still looking forward to it, even after all of the complaints about how SEGA has handled games in the past. It would probably come out at some point in the future when I need a break from FF14.

I know I could just be playing the Japanese version, especially with how much the English patches cover now, but bleh, none of my friends want to play it until it comes out here.

The english patches helped out alot.... but there was still way to much japanesse to really make me feel like i had a grasp on the hell i was doing, so many items and litterly had no idea what the stats were. the main story was translated though, which was nice.

I would probably still be playing it, if i could understand it more, but the hassle of cutting and pasting into google finally killed me. but if it does get translated offically i'll be dat.

Even if they do release an official NA/EU version, I am still kinda upset with them for taking a year and a half to do it.

You know Ship 2 was to blame. Crafting preview looked fun, kinda wanna jump back in but I get bored of the grind so quickly now after putting so much time in.

Pssh i'm w/ you there kia, i fucking miss the game. But the whole missing out on content when you don't pay and grinding get old quick. :/ at least the hit detection is infinitely better than xiv. Lol

Think this is because stuff is handled client side. I've seen people fighting what appeared to be nothing in front of them before, but saw an enemy far away taking damage lol. I do much prefer this though, because yeah, if you get hit, it is basically always your own fault instead of server/internet issues.

New Limited Quest will be coming out on the 22nd which should make it easy to level if anyone was thinking of playing again. The last time we had one you could get to 45 in like a day just running around killing bosses. The crafting is pretty meh and bravers especially get fucked by it since you need a DEX mag to use anything Ex lvl3+.

I'd say play wherever you know people. The general english community on ship2 is cancerous.

You can move servers if you have AC. But yeah, the general English community on ship 2 is cancerous and block 20 is the center of that tumor.
