Takes 9 months with externship at an accredited school(Sanford Brown). Covered both retail and hospital IV/chemo prep, but even with all that, companies aren't hiring atm. Alot of sheisty schools have popped up and saturated the market with pill counters who will take anything above min. wage.
find a skill that you love. make every day awesome, regardless of how shitty you want to make it, or how shitty others try to make it because they want to suck other people into their shithole.
you're sucking other people into the shithole youre in. you've got other people bitching about their situation even though they have no idea what your situation is really like. your job is not the problem, you are the problem. fix you, and your problems will fix themselves. and if they don't, well, you might die. but hey, you were going to anyways, right?
this is optimism
There's always an asshole at every job. Quit if you want to, it's obviously your choice. But it's the same shit, different place, everywhere you go.
This.
I had a fucking sick job @ a call centre, taking about 15 calls all lasting 5mins tops during an 8hr shift and the pay was close to 20$/hr (CDN). Shit was a breeze until they laid off about 2-3k people in a single month. Now, I'm working in retail and the amount of bullshit from my managers and customers is getting to my head >_>
idk about you guys, but I work inventory/product process at a retail store. Shit's pretty dope. My supervisor is cool (we were friends prior to his promotion), I never work with my bitch GM, pay is decent for retail, I don't deal with customers.
Sure I work early mornings, but I'm out from anywhere between noon to two pm and have the rest of the day to do whatever.
Don't want to deal with shit customers and be away from a GM who works during sales hours? Work in the warehouse.
I may be a retard because I'm only 21 and don't have as much life experience as some, so don't take my opinion seriously.
If I were you I would just try to stick it out, or find another job before you move on. At least cover yourself.
Lyn is right though. No matter what job you work, there is always someone who will make you annoyed. The exception is sometimes in a family business. However, as one who works for my father's company whilst in school full time, I'd say where there are positives there are also negatives in other areas.
If anything, it has given you experience for possibly trying to get another job. The problem is finding someone who will hire and pay you decently. =(
If you want job stability, and like at all working with your hands, consider getting into a trade. Automotive repair, HVAC, Electrical systems tech, etc. There are different schools all over the country that offer this type of training. People always need their cars fixed, heat and A/C, and with the technology boom, EST jobs are highly in demand.
I worked retail for a few years, was my first job, it sucked ass, half the supervisors/managers had their heads up their asses and the store manager + his assistant were probably two of the worst people I've ever met. The whole store hated them and it was a pain in the ass to work any shift when they were in the store. The supervisors who didn't suck practically had a party anytime there was a day without Asshole and Asshole Jr., and it was bad to the point where they had a special code to input on their radios anytime the store manager walked into the building.
It was really the topmost factor that drove me back to going to college to finish my degree - not having to work shit retail anymore, it's like a dream come true. Yeah, it's a job, but retail at a large/medium-size store is probably one of the worst jobs one could have, right up there with flipping burgers and telemarketing. To put it in perspective, one of my great aunts saw me a while ago and asked "Are you still selling for Penneys?" and I said "No, I quit". She goes, "Good, get out of that." Even the old timers know retail isn't a 'real job' and feel sorry for the people who work it >.> OP, yeah, I would quit and go get some kind of degree that will let you have a real job that pays better and doesn't require you to pick up the slack of your halfass managers/company that doesn't feel like scheduling workers.
could give online poker a shot. but if you wanna do that, better get ready to do some legit hard work, and be prepared to go crazy more than a few times.
Its WORK, it sucks, STFU, welcome to the real world.
It's funny because I just quit my job with no backup plan and already got a new one. Just do it!
Any job where you can work your way up the ladder simply by attrition is gonna be plagued with idiots at the top. Deal with it or find a way out I suppose.
Ideal position? $14/hr starting probationary period, $18/hr after passing IV quality control tests, with room to move up to more responsibility/higher pay($20-22/hr).
My situation? Groveling at the feet of shitty retail chains for $10/hr starting with PT hours.
Seriously considering becoming a full-time student once I land a job. Yeah, I got gamed with the whole "fastest growing job field" marketing, treated it like a real degree, and acquired my first debt as an adult lol I wouldn't call it a total loss, I have lots of useless knowledge about shit I previously had no names for and simply referred to as "Poison". Still alot easier to just say poison tho..
Being reckless isn't smart. Might have gotten away with that 5-10yrs ago, but don't take your shit for granted anymore.
This is about as bad as hearing someone recommend The Secret to change my life.
If your driving record is clean and you are not a dope head, look into getting a CDL and becoming a truck driver it's what I'm doing right now. I've finally had it with my job and discovered there is a big demand for truckers since the restrictions are getting tougher every year. Find an accredited school and see about finacial aid, I'm not paying anything out of pocket and most companies will reimburse your tuition. Starting pay is estimated at around 37k first year and goes up each year after that. If you can keep a clean record you'll never be out of a job.
If driving isn't your thing go to your local bowling alley and see if they're looking for mechanics. It is a very specialized field most(read all) bowling alleys are not going ask for experience for pinchasers(enrty level mechanics) as long as your semi mechanically inclined you can learn/do it. Job is easy most the time your by yourself behind the machines and only have to catch problems calls(ball didn't go back etc.) and routi e cleaning and lubing of the machines. I've been at it for 16 years and if I wasn't burned out I'd stay. Usually mechanics start out at 8/9/hr depending on the company. Some lead mechanics I know locally are earning close to 50k(they're good at what they do).
Anyway there is some idea's, I wish you good luck on your search.
