They need enough time to figure out how many figure sets and whatnot they need to order and artbooks to print, they probably just don't want to take orders before they can be sure they can secure enough product to meet them.

I've never played Disgaea games, but I have 3 sitting on my shelf. Do I need to start with 1 and 2 or can I just jump into 3 without missing much?? Wanna get it done before 4 comes out.

I would play 1 and skip 2 & 3.

Well I already have 3 so my question is whether I need to play them in order for story purposes or if they are unrelated like FF games?

Theyre all unrelated, but yet related.

There's a lot of cross game characters and references that you might not get without playing the others. D2 is my least favourite story/character wise, D1 and D3 are pretty similar in the story/character departments (with a few twists and stuff) which is why I like those the best.

If you ever do go back to play D1 and 2, make sure to play PSP port versions of PS2 versions, the PSP ports are a lot better. I have to say though, bad ending in Disgaea 2 is pretty fucked up, but if you have english voices on they censor exactly what happens at the end, but with JP voices its uncensored.

I still find D1 story to be the best(imo), but most people play Disgaea for the gameplay, rather than the story.
