Not really, since they're just building on existing concepts while adding a few more. If this is your first Disgaea though, it might be overwhelming.

There's not that much to do unless you like perfecting items. There's like 8~ post game stages, then it's all item/class world grinding. Still lasted me 110(and probably another 20 for reloading) hours.

Not at all. I bleed Disgaea and look forward to the grind and doing everything there is to do. That's one thing I do with this series, I play it thoroughly as hell and then some.

I would actually buy that if the figurines were the original nenedroid that they used for the Japanese special edition. The new figurines are sorta bad in comparison. Oh well, guess I'll just grab the game by itself when it comes out.
