I believe you can only pay for your XIV subscription using Crysta, which you must buy using your CC or PayPal through one of the two third parties. It's just unfortunate a number of people are having various issues we didn't have to deal with through POL.

Well this is what it says on the offical SE site:

In addition to Crysta, you can pay for some services with a credit card or debit card using a ClickandBuy account.

So I'd assume that you can pay with CC as well, even though it says "some" services, which could mean that FFXIV isn't one of those, but I doubt it.

I registered and was verified for ClickandBuy within a matter of minutes. YMMV. I would have used Crysta, but I dislike how you are limited to specific purchase increments. I would have preferred it working like PS Store's wallet allowing me to charge the exact amount required.

This is either bad wording on their part (big surprise!), or FFXIV is not one of said services you can pay for directly.

Do the XIII codes work yet? I tried mine earlier and it wouldn't take it. Would be nice to know if I need to start bugging their support staff about a broken code

I registered my FFXIII code this morning. Before last night's maintenance it wasn't being accepted, so you should be fine now assuming you were in open beta. I'm guessing those who weren't in the beta need to wait for their retail code to have the FFXIV service added to their account.

Juyst hope that this Auto FFXIV service is not a placeholder and when you put in your real code it says welll fuck you your Armband are link to the wrong service you sir are fucked

Thank you for your query. In answer to your email you have to wait till you get FINAL FANTASY XIV and register on your Square Enix account to use the code to get the bonus item. We apologise for this.

I'm pretty sure it's safe to register your code. The Final Fantasy XIV service account is a catch-all for anything related to FFXIV code registration. If you look at the "Option List" portion it states that the code that comes with your retail copy is what allows you to add characters to your account.

If they have that code on record, do you have to type it in via the management system? The only code-entry I can find is for 14 activation codes.

Yes you have to type it in. Note it says you can enter codes too, not just FFXIV activation.
