Computer won't post, no beep codes

The other night I got home really tired, my computer was still on so I was an idiot and just yanked the power cord out.
next morning I start it up, works for about 5 minutes, then completely freezes and I shut it down by holding the power button.
Now it won't start at all, none of the usual beeps or anything, although everything gets powered up. All the normal lights go on, fans spin etc.

First I thought it was the psu, so I bought one on newegg, had the same problem and returned it. I tried clearing the CMOS, and removing the cmos battery but no luck. Also I'm pretty sure it's not the RAM since I pulled both sticks out, tried booting with one, then tried removing both to see if my motherboard beeps a RAM error code, but no luck. Also pretty sure its not my video card since I also didn't get any errors when pulling it out(usually does a couple beeps telling me video cards not in)

Now I'm guessing it can only either be the CPU or motherboard, but how would I be able to figure that out without trying it on another machine? also what are the odds that it's just the bios chip?

btw if it matters, i have an ASUS P5Q-E with a Q6600 cpu

There is no real test for either of these, side from testing with different components.

Looks like it's the motherboard anyway.

That's what I was thinking, but would the lights on the motherboard still work and such even if it was? the onboard power button still can power it on and all the lights turn on, and everything looks normal(wasn't really expecting any physical damage to appear, but just in case there were burnt capacitors or whatever.)

I guess I'll just get another motherboard then, might just save up a couple paychecks and upgrade to one of the newer gen processors then

That's why you should never turn your pc off.
