    I loved the feel of the game, it was fairly easy to get archer to 21 in short time. After that I was hard pressed to find mobs that would give decent archery skill ups that were at least equal to the physical skill ups without being in a party. The harvesting/fishing/mining system has potential although I'm pretty sure the "slider" depth adjustment did absolutely nothing at all in beta while hitting the exact same mark several times seemed to do the trick. I loved exploring the many different maps; did anyone happen across the fairies village that was blocked from entering by large boulders in the North Eastern part of Gridania map? I have ss's, there's a very large glowing crystal in the center of the camp surrounded by smaller crystals.
    I didn't like the transition from harvesting/fishing gear to being ready to fight when a mob agro'd, while harvesting/fishing it seemed to take forever for the macros to load abilities 15-25 seconds and by the time it was finished you had been hit 2 or 3 times by the agro. I hope they fix the response time. Sometimes macros would load and sometimes they wouldn't kind of sucked. I hate the gear durability system, that alone may be the deciding factor as to how long I play xiv

    What I liked:
    -Mages start getting pretty powerful from rank 10 onwards, while in FFXI they were completely helpless until late 50's;
    -Battle themes, while being your average RPG battle music with no originality whatsoever, are nice to listen to, unlike FFXI's.

    That's it.

    What I didn't like:
    -Graphics aren't nearly as good as people say. They're comparable to late PS2 games and are noticiably worse than a generic PS3 title. This game looks slightly better than FFXII, that's it.
    -Ambient and cutscene music are meh and they might as well not even be there;
    -Terribad crafting system;
    -Feels even slower paced than FFXI. Maps are way too large and even the most basic actions take forever to execute;
    -Lalafell footsteps' noises;
    -Generally not fun to play.
    feels slower than ffxi?,Graphics aren't nearly as good as people say. They're comparable to late PS2 games ?...... your'e either running a crap PC or your'e dumb.

    White text, lol?

    Yeah, that Sylph place is "Moonspore Grove" or something, and the glowing things appear to be mushrooms or at least mushroom-shaped aetheryte crystals, hence the "moonspore." There's a similar place, "Goldleaf Dais" that is similar in architecture, with a small stage/ritualistic platform.

    If something dangerous is nearby to your gathering point it's always best to switch to a war/magic discipline and kill it and any too-close respawns before you push your luck, assuming you can kill it. Wrist Flick > Stone Throw just does not do the trick when the stun is wasted by trying to get back out of Active mode.

    I enjoyed:

    The music (Welcome back Mr. Uematsu!)
    The graphics are beautiful and we've only just begun.
    All of the classes were fun to level that I dabbled in, even miner and blacksmith.
    Crafting is engaging even if I did fail quite a bit.
    The story is interesting.
    There's a general overall feeling that can't really be described with words, but it's like I know I'm in for something EPIC.

    I very much loved the new crafting system in this game and how they made it more fun rather than the boring "job" it became in ffxi. The maps also look very amazing, so much detail!!! I especially love how the areas look during the day when the sun is out =). I also love how there is so much diversity in this game in terms of character creation, its nearly impossible to find an exact clone and the awesome color combinations people create are also a nice treat to see.

    I agree with this.

    There is a lot of stuff I do like usually summed up in the phrase "I think the bones are good". There are a lot of things that worry me (e.g. how much needs polishing or adjusting, and how much content I think there should be, or what sort of content I think SE should be adding).

    But even in beta form, whether solo or grouping (especially the latter... on much more flexible terms than was possible in XI) I just kept having fun. The least fun bits were definitely solo grinding, but since I definitely won't be playing haijin, especially not at release, I should pretty much always be able to grab a couple friends and burn some leves.

    What I liked
    Miqo'te
    the things some npc's say
    the graphics
    the emotes
    damaging parts of mobs (knocking off the heads of skeletons looked funny when they wonder around)
    miqo'te
    the sounds miqo'te make when hit
    taru's still a puntable size (wtb motion edit program to add in taru punt emote)
    the customizations
    miqo'te

    what I don't like
    the retainer/market system
    the 25 people on screen limit
    no <call> sounds!
    missing a sound/notification of when a friends online
    currently not able to play with miqo'te

    I can't argue there. The whole black shroud seems like a maze and feels much more constricted than Limsa Lominsa or Uldah. Wish they would have gone with the open forest like The Sanctuary of Zitah, but just a whole lot bigger.

    For those who've never been, the Black Shroud is not as much of a maze as it seems from first glance at the map. After a small bit of exploring, maybe a leve or two, you can recognize what is a dead-end and what isn't (usually tunnels) on the map. It's really not bad to navigate apart from going places you shouldn't be, as it's all narrow corridors and if something is aggressive, it will see you.

    I liked being able to leave feedback during the open beta.

    Oh wait.

    But seriously though, probably not much. Maybe I've been jaded because of FFXI, but the only thing I truely found enjoyable was the the aura of mystery surrounding the game... but I guess that's because it's new.

    Now that I think about it... I actually liked a lot of the clothing/armor. I really like the Medieval/Renaissance feel from a lot of clothing... especially some of the starter wear that the Disciples of Land received... More color would be great tho

    The writing was pretty hit-or-miss (most of the examples given so far sound like they were written by McLovin's character from Role Models) but at least it was memorable.

    I chuckled at this:
