    Help Choosing a monitor please

Just as the title states, I am in the market for a new monitor. My budget is probably a max of $250 but could go a little higher if need be. I am basically just gonna be using this for gaming, mainly FFXIV and other games. I was looking at this one: http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/p...9&sku=320-1070 or this one here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824236052 .
I don't know alot about contrast ratios and etc, just mainly looked at customer reviews and hdmi availability. If you know any better deals or brand etc please feel free to suggest, thanks

Both monitors have a 5ms response time, which in games like ffxi, wow or whatever can cause "ghosting". (Like...when you hold down left or right to turn, and things kind of "blur", the ms-response time helps tremendously in reducing that. You should look for a 2ms response monitor, imo. The difference between a 2 and a 5 for me was rather large, and I refuse to use 5ms monitors anymore for gaming (especially since they're typically around the same price)

(went to newegg and found a few examples real quick, but you can keep shopping around)

etc etc, can keep looking. However the main thing I look for in a monitor is the response time, and only after that are the other details.

This isn't an entirely correct statement. While purchasing an LCD with a lower-than 5ms response time sounds ideal, many of the LCDs on the market do not perform according to their advertised specifications. As such, you should take whatever rating manufacturers put on their normal retail ads with a grain of salt, and should never strictly base a purchase on the advertised response time. Sometimes, a monitor stated to have a 4ms response will perform better than one with a supposed 2ms response.

If you're serious, you always want to research the panel used in the monitor itself.
