Agreed that the episode was great emotionally and in terms of developing Barney's character. I don't think anyone can argue that he's become a more emotional character now. His breakdown when he was stealing the basketball hoop were so well done. I'm ok if the old Barney is gone if they can continue to pull off strong emotional development for him.

Was thinking the same thing. She's in college, so there's that connection. If Barney does get married, it would explain why she's there. Would be cool if it was.

Plus, Ted's setting up an 'Everyone Loves Raymond' act buying that house so close to Barney's father's house.

It was the episode his mom got remarried, he tried to "skip ahead" in life, and it was a shithole, hence all the repairs. Episode also featured "drunk or a kid"

This is correct, they are essentially family to Ted therefor the kids grow up knowing them as Aunt/Uncle.

Also great episode this week, especially introducing barney to his half brother, i found that pretty funny.

John Lithgow as his dad is a good casting. I expect them to connect and have some great scenes in the future.

I must be forgetting, but it feels like Marshall's dad dying was the first serious thing to happen on this show. Now this...

assuming Carly (clara was mistaken, whoever typed that) is the mother, and assuming barney+robin happens, then my theory is: legendaddy convinces barney that some things are meant to be, love can happen, etc etc. Barney and robin happen again, get married. Carly would be at the wedding to meet ted, if the chick from the first ep this season is there she could be like Carly's plus 1, since roommates and all that

only problem is i can't see that happening in the remaining handful of episodes, so idk

I'll believe Barney+Robin when I see it. The two of them just didn't work as a couple and since Nora is cast for additional episodes, I'm pulling for her. My problem with these theories on Barney's sister (although her not showing up certainly was weird) is that the brother looks far too young..
