Is it still better off vendoring all the junk from mobs or are people actually using them now? I have yet to see people "asking" for stuff...

Were the mobs grouped? I've noticed AoE seems to extend farther for mobs grouped together on leves or whatever.
Does anyone know where and when you can start part 3 of the Ul'dah storyline? I've heard you can start it at Phys 15 but I can't quite figure out who to talk to.
Not sure if anyone has done this yet but: http://www.ff14news.com/2010/09/23/f...n-information/
Spoiler: show
I know there were rumors that certain stats went with certain crafts. Like I guess blacksmith can get a strength boost from guild marks or something, so they think boosting strength helps with blacksmith. Any idea what carpentry would be?
And to think, there's probably another 400-500k people joining next week. (USA alone had over 200k pre-orders last week) I wonder what they want maximum population per server to be.
Can anyone else not log in? As soon as I select my character I get an error.
Edit: Nvm, It's just my server.
With crafting, the rank tied to a recipe, is that minimum rank or what? Just curious.
It's rather easy to understand, they even told us their thoughts about it in the prelive event if I recall correctly. Lemme try to dig it up
Anyway, too bad theory and practice don't always meet.
There are two great parts about the market ward.
1) Playing the market and finding gems like obsidian for 200 gil and various ores for 70-100 gil. Buy low and sell high, baby.
2) The complete lag-free crafting/menus/ect. Seriously. Market Wards are like sanctuaries. I'm sure there are going to be rooms full of cyberers on the RP servers because its just so lag free in there.

^ random complaint thread.
Please try to keep this section for questions/answers and try not to get sidetracked.
Oh yeah, found it. Dunno if I should post it here or the complaint thread though D:
So basically, rather than "crafting" being simply about making items, they wanted to make the selling/buying process a larger part of the gameplay too.We do not want the extent of a Disciple of the Hand/Land’s stay in Eorzea to be about simply putting the items he creates/gathers up for auction, which is why we have envisioned a bazaar-driven economy in which players can be creative in the methods they use to sell their wares.
I think at least in theory it sounds like a rather nice idea honestly, but of course practically speaking most players will only see it as a hindrance which it honestly is at the moment.
Still, at least I am planning to give it a go anyway. Combat is still too much of a pain for me but crafting is quite fun.
A few things I've noticed regarding Fishing (since the Fisher thread is locked...?).
a) They fixed the skill/exp bonus so you get the appropriate amount on the last catch of your leve.
b) They fixed the misleading dialog for abilities like Dowse so you can tell it's pointing you in the directions of gathering points
c) You no longer get bonus skill/exp from catches during a "Inspect X Promising Fishing Points" leve. Don't waste your Guardian's Aspect on these.
d) My Dowse/Gulleye have no cooldown timer?! Eh? I can spam it repeatedly getting the 30-sec Quickening until I am completely out of an area that has the appropriate Grades.
e) Leve rewards have been altered significantly. Ice Potion and Crow Fly lure have been rewards for Rank~1-10 in the Black Shroud.
f) You will get MPK'd by all the assholes running aggressive shit past you as you fish for a leve.
Some of these crafting recipes are such bullshit. All of the blacksmith tools require Undyed Canvas to make, which is listed as Weaver Lv21-30 on the website. This even includes (of course) the freaking Lv6 hammer.
Edit: Has anyone been able to do this at ~10-12ish to check that it's not a typo or something?
So is there no thread for talking random shit now? :/
I think most of the stuff can go in the what you want in ffxiv for the future or the bitch thread.
Because the game is live it'd be nice to have people's questions not get drowned in offtopicness which usally involves complaining.
Before we mashed everything together because of stuff like the NDA, and because a lot of stuff was going to get graveyard on release.
Now we need a little more organization.
