Dear Abraxas:

What is your opinion on the insufficient discipline after the PHI/NYI incident? I mean, you guys had a 5 on 3, with 1 minute left in a game you were /winning/ 6-1 and your team decides to complete mug the guys on the ice as the crowd cheered. Not only did you guys nearly decapitate Frans Neilsen on the faceoff, but your /five/ guys went after the remaining /two/ as your defensemen dropped below the faceoff circles, prompting Rick Dipietro to try and drop the gloves, only to have Chris Pronger sic'ed on him. The whole scene, with the crowd cheering as one guy was cheap shotted (and thats putting it lightly) and the remaining three being attacked by five, reminded me of Muslims publically executing people or Christians being thrown to the lions in the Collesseum. I really felt there should have been more discipline handed down on the Flyers orginization, coach, as well as players (Carcillo, for example) besides Briere.

What I saw was blatantly a mass mugging and regardless of what happened previously, two wrongs dont make a right.

Ok, so Briere taking an axe swing at someones head = cross checking? Okay. I thought Cross Checking was both hands on the stick, pushing straight forward. His hit on Nielsen was both hands on the stick, swinging it around in a turning motion with the blade/lower end of his stick aimed at his face. But okay, I'll give you benefit of the doubt. So where then does self-defense come in to Carcillo charging right at Nielsen as his hands go up to his head and his body start to fall and Carcillo spearing the butt end of his stick into Nielsen's defenseless back?

Well, if its the Blue Jackets vs. the Coyotes, I'd say it was probably on even sledding, but you guys ARE the Flyers, I really don't know what you want me to believe. Its like when Downie/Burrows/Carcillo act surprised when the refs/league don't give them any leniency, how can Flyers fans honestly expect the benefit of the doubt from anyone outside of Philadelphia?

again, dont make judgments unless you watched the game. it was 2 Islanders D-men and Dipietro versus Carcillo and Briere. thats 3 on 2, thats why Pronger came in bearhugged him and held him down. if i were you and a Penguin *didnt* come in to even it up then id be more pissed than you are about Pronger doing it.

Carcillo isn't an enforcer. Their only legitimate enforcer is Shelly and he's averaging something 5m TOI.

Enforcer is not the right word for it, but Carcillo, Hartnell, etc (even Richards in one instance) seem to have no qualms about making questionable hits.
