I watched that game, it was just boring enough that I had nothing to comment on.

The first period nearly put me to sleep. There was nearly zero effort at all, every chip n chase lost for both sides in what was a back and forth groaner. Evidently, neither team was that hungry.

Just saw the press conference, fuckin lol'd. It's true, though, the "first line" is playing too deep and too lazy. Kessel did this a lot last year - he does not get back for defense like ever, cherry picks the line ahead, skates ahead of the play, and generally acts greedy. It's tough to keep a short, fast transition game when your line never gets back. The defense ends up passing back and forth because nobody is open enough, and you end up with low% stretch passes and boring ass hockey as a result.

Also some pretty uninspiring stuff in the shootout by both sides. Coming in slow is always a fail strategy. And how do you inspire kids with 5 hole shots from the slot?

Wings shot themselves in the foot with 2 bad penalties.

Unfortunate end to the game, I thought the Wings played well in the first 2 periods but clearly lost their energy in the 3rd, the back-to-back finally seemed to take its toll.

I think Luongo and Howard played better than the score indicates, both with some key stops although Luongo had a few more I think.

Good game, Detroit looked gassed in the end and gave up a shit ton of penalties. Always fun watching Det/Van.

Bleh between world series, honeymoon and being sick, haven't been able to track the sharks like I wanted to. Thornton suspension looked shitty to me watching clips on youtube. Looks like it pissed them off though as they are destroying Tampa tonight.

A little late but I've been out of town and limited time on the computer. I'm happy to take that trade since Parise is going to be out forever, I'd happily trade Giroux for Sharp and replace Parise with a (so far) superior Cullen, if only because the Wild aren't the fucking Devils.

I'm glad it looks like nobody in this thread watched the leafs game. 1st period was a snoozefest, both teams too afraid of sucking to forecheck. Leafs score with 16 seconds left. 5 Min left in the 2nd, Kulemin walks in on Roy, beats him, and scores on a 5 v 2, both buffalo wingers cherrypicking the blue line waiting for Roy's outlet pass... only Roy has no stick. Fail.

Roy scores for Buffalo having found his stick and bats a rebound out of midair.

Leafs give up the tying goal to buffalo with 16 seconds left in the 3rd, and then drop the shootout after 5 deep. Three leafs going 5 hole after the Buffalo goalie shows it and cuts it off.

1-9 in their last 10 games, Leafs 4th line proving to live down to last year's expectations.

Oh you better believe I watched that game haha. Sabres deserved to lose, but I'll take the W.
