D Tom Poti was signed to a two-year contract extension in late September. That's a good move for the Caps because Poti is an anchor for a young group of defenseman—plus he's outstanding on the power play.

I just read this on Yahoo's preview for the Caps. Uh, Green and Ovechkin ran the points on the PP. Green usually played the full two minutes, and rarely Ovie would move to one of the circles and Poti would play the other point. Poti has 6 PP points all season. I'm glad we'll see that kind of production for two more years!

I'm pretty sure Buffalo will play Gerbe this year. He was really damn good in the Playoffs when they had to bring him up, plus he's got 10 times more hustle than anyone else on the team.

Just did my usual picks vs my folks. We've had a mini pool/draft every year since like '94.
Basically pick any 20 players, no matching picks that other people have, and load up on a team as much as you want.
My Dad has this crazy tendency of loading up on one team and it's like every goal, (unless there's no assists) is guaranteed points. In playoff pools, he'd take like 14 Red Wings and rack up. As long as they didn't get eliminated, he'd dominate.
Last year my Mom loaded up on Chicago... you know how that went.
This year I was all over the place, and as sad as it sounds, I went with all the prospects from Edmonton. >.< (Dad stole MTL from me, since that's been our fave team forever.)

So my mish-mash draft is:

You seem to forget that he's a decent penalty killer. Fun fact, he's also in the Canadian Ball Hockey hall of fame. As for who is playing on the Sedin line, it's going to be Samuelsson until he goes on another cold streak.

In other hockey news Wade Redden gets a raise for going to the AHL. By playing there he no longer pays escrow so he doesn't forfeit 18% of his contract. Redden is now set to make it rain cocaine again.

At least that's some upside for him, granted his play hasn't been stellar but it sucks to be shoved down to a B-league because your team's GM was stupid enough to offer you money you didn't really warrant. It's not like any reasonable person would turn down an offer for a shitload of money because they thought they weren't worth it themselves.

Wings starting their top 9 minus Bertuzzi at Toronto... have 4 of their regular D playing odd pairings, and two AHL goalies. It's on NHL network and probably some Canadian channel for those that want to watch some old guys lose to the Leafs (since the Wings haven't beaten them in years).
