Hossa gets hurt at practice when he collides with Boynton, both laid down face first on the ice for a few minutes, Boynton got up, Hossa needed assistance to the bench. In addition, Coach Q was at a funeral and Turco told the media that Crawford is starting tonight against the Blues. I find it hilarious and interesting that Turco said this, and not even one of the assistance coaches who you'd think would have more say in the matter.

Other than this incident here (which was fucking terrible and I hope Crosby gets aids from some super duper gay buttsex) the penalty calling seemed very even. The Rangers didnt get the lucky bounce all night and were severely outplayed for the first 40 minutes.

The point of this story really comes down to Nick Boynton: fucking up live games and making bad decisions leading to goals against AND fucking up in practice, making bad decisions leading to less goals for and hurting a star player.

Anything I can find calls him an "...effective, gritty shut down defenseman...," so it could bode well. Looking at his stats, it looks more like he's a guy that's defense first and will cover for his D partner. Still, I thought the Caps would have gotten more for Flash.

The trade seems pretty win/win. Both teams got something they were in need of, Caps definitely needed at least one stay-at-home shotblocker, and Avs get another top-6 forward just in time with Stewart going down for 5-6 weeks. I have a feeling Flash will do a lot better in Colorado than he did in Washington.

So the Shark Tank had a power outage this morning that had the potential to disrupt morning skate. I personally blame Detroit. First they arrive too late in the night and get fined by the city of san jose during last years playoffs, now we have power issues in our arena. That or the hockey gods are trying to spare us some humiliation tonight since we won our last game, we are due for another loss.

I don't think this trade gets made if Green and Poti don't miss so many games though. We've seen way too much of Tyler Sloan (and even a little Brian Fahey) this season for anyone's liking, so this is more of a depth move than anything. I hope this doesn't relegate Erskine to healthy scratch status though, he's played about as well as anyone in our own zone this year.

Poti's been a scratch for 2/3rds of the season so far, was he even hurt or just a healthy scratch? I'd assume Hannan would get the nod over him, and Erskine's played every game so far.
