Man I'm so glad the Hawks are done with their Pacific time games for awhile, I realized I need to watch non-hawks hackey after a game to relax

Just returned from ye olde house of misery, aka the local leafs bar.

Look I expected us to lose and lose mightily, predicted a disaster against tampa, so imagine my surprise when we're leading after 1. So many bad turnovers in neutral ice, but I guess that's par for the course with the leafs. Thank god Gustavsson made some unfuckingbelievable saves. How full must that water bottle be after the game? Soooo many oshit turnovers I wonder how he even finds the time.... Shit that save at 1st 2:50 looked like M. Jackson busting splits in the crease.

First TB goal was a softie. Gustavsson stops every ridiculous chance and then lets in a 1 man wraparound.

Second TB goal BG'S VER-HERO goes on a fuckin skating trip, and when the puck comes to St. louie on the far corner of the slot, versteeg is covering nobody, out of position.

Let me break this down: Schenn makes a pinch play in neutral ice and then bumps into a TB player at the line, loses his footing. Far D slot will not be covered in time. Versteeg sees this, and skates a big roundabout from the near boards as schenn gets up and back. Schenn sees versteeg come around, and plays pseudo-center(he's still not in a great spot). IT IS ASSUMED Versteeg covers that spot where Schenn would normally play, he's certainly skating like he's going there. Then Versteeg realizes he's playing someone else's spot, and decides to just coast away back to the far point. "Not my job! Peace".

When the enemy is rushing, if your D is delayed and you're one of only two back, and you skate to the far corner of the slot like you're defending, don't fuckin' coast your legs and glide away until the Dman relieves you. Someone needs to play that position more than the point, and St. louie gets a free shot because an awkward situation blew versteeg's mind and he chose the blue pill.

Last 2 goals not Gustavssons fault at all. Tying goal, leafs lose the faceoff (so what's new?), traffic in front and Gustavsson gets perfectly screened. He didn't have a prayer. Last goal Schenn goes tape to tape to... Not Kessel, it's Brett Clark. Leafs, overextended, turn the puck over, 2 on 1, Stamkos and Clark, what can you do Kaberle? Not too much.

Turnovers are the death of this team.

I'm just surprised we took that to overtime. That's possibly the most unexpected point of the year. Gustavsson's playing great, and I'm excited for the game against Edmonton, where the leafs come out looking nervous and passive against a vastly... equivalent team.

    Mod sass.

Seriously though, I'm bitter I had to drop Versteeg in my money league. +/- was killing me.

    Unintentional!

And really, watch that goal. Second video, third period Versteeg was in the perfect position to stop that goal... and then he just leaves. I was stunned.

And one more thing, what's with this moving Kadri to the first line as a center? He's 6'0, how will he win faceoffs? He played winger in the ahl, how will he play defence? He's got all his points so far this season as winger. No matter how much you may wish it, Ron, Kadri is not a center.

They did this in the preseason too and he stank. Last preseason he was on the wing and led the team in goals till he got sent. He's blown some good chances on the wing, stopping the puck when he should be onetiming, whiffing the fast pass, this is what playing in the minors too long does - the pace of the game is ever so slightly faster, and some stuff that flies in the Marlies does not fly in the Leafs. Besides that he's been making great passes from the wing and has made some great plays.

KADRI IS NOT A CENTER. jesus.

Edit to the previous post. Komisarek makes the schenn play, schenn goes for a change.

The ZDH line is fucking ridiculous at times, moreso when they have Rafalski and Lidstrom on the points. 3-1.

Big goal late in the 2nd with 10 seconds left to regain the 2 goal lead.

Might have been Cleary for his 12th, might have been Eaves. If it was Clearly it moves him into 7th in the NHL in goal scoring.

e: NHL looks like they are giving it to Eaves

Byfuglien kills a guy with a shot, then rockets a slapper for a goal. Seems like he likes the blueline and being able to blast shots all night.

I seriously wonder why I bother to play Marleau at all anymore. He's a +/- killer, been on the ice for 3 of Detroits goals. He only gets points in every other game and then stinks the next. Between him and Alfredsson I'm pulling my hair out in frustration.

I really like how Byfuglien played during the Stanley Cup, guy really impressed me, would love to have him on the Penguins.

But of course I dropped him in like week 2. Next year, next year...

Goddamn Big Buff gets a goal and an assist on the game winning goal. If he keeps this up could he seriously be up for a Norris nomination?
