Leafs picked it up big in the third. WSH looked... idk... tired? Confused? One thing we stopped doing was handing pucks away, which must have confused them considerably since we love to do it so much. Kaberle improved his trade value, quarterbacking much better than the last... 10 games and even grabbing his own notch on a pretty onetimer from the point. Our PP was... pretty strained for opportunities. Caps are no dummies - minus Phaneuf we really don't have a defenceman with a real threat shot, inaccurate though it may be. The pucks keep showing up there! Phaneuf coming back will help out our PP in that regard. PK was okay. D was okay, though frustratingly shy of blocking shots in the actual lanes. All in all, we played like a proper unit, at least down the stretch.

Next 3 games are against #2, #3, and #4 in the east, so hopefully we will continue to be inconsistent to the good side before we cough up a silly one against Jersey or some shit

Not making excuses but Jeff Schultz missed the 3rd period, so pairings were being juggled. But a lot of Toronto's pressure was due to Caps forwards not backchecking or failing to clear the zone. Just a garbage period. With as good as this team can be, periods like this happen waaaayyyyy too often.
