That's what I mean. I think he's a perfectly capable goalie, but when the single best defenseman you put in front of a goalie is 56 year-old Gonchar, there's only so many games you can expect the goalie to pull out for you.

Oh now I see why his GAA is atrocious this week....seems he came in on Tuesday in replace of Leclaire, and only faced 2 shots, one of which went in. That should correct itself tonight since we found out that Yahoo uses an ass backwards method of calculating goalie stats the other week.

How is that ass backwards? Its how the NHL has always calculated Save%. If you face 2 shots and let in 1 but get a shutout on 38 shots the next game, you get a .975% (39/40). How is that ass backwards? The issue in question a couple weeks ago was calculated correctly and as I anticipated it to be, I don't see how you think (hypothetical shots) .667% on 3 shots and .978% (46/47) should be the average of the two save %s (.823) and not the overall % of shots stopped (.960 - 48 of 50).

GAA in Yahoo is also calculated the exact same way its done in the NHL records:
((Goals Against)x60)/(Minutes Played)

I always assumed you had to play a full game for Yahoo to count the stats is what I meant, I didn't realize at the time last week that it just counts minutes played and averages from that. Knowing that now, is why I said that I see why Elliots stats for this week are so terrible, he hasn't played a full 60 minutes yet.

This poses a big question for the defensive corps: Who do you send down, Gunnarson, Aulie, or Lebda? Gunnarson is no longer waiver exempt, so you can't send him. Aulie's been playing pretty well for a rookie, well enough for a spot in the line, but he's the only waiver-exempt defenseman on the team.

But Fuckface sucks. He really, really sucks. We are 2-7-3 with fuckface skating, and 8-6-1 without him. The team is -20, but Fuckface has by himself already attained a -11 (Steeg is -13, but he plays all the tough jobs, and I don't think he deserves it. Lebda however.... er, Fuckface, has NEVER been on the ice for a Leafs goal). His corsi QoC is teh worst of all the leafs. Plus, the team went 2-1 with Fuckface in the press box, and now he's back?

See, he takes up good cap space on top of being a recent UFA signing. It reminds me of how we "showcased" Exelby last year only to show just how bad he was. With that caveat, we likely break up the Aulie line and send him down, though it's a shame. We did not bag skate Fuckface today - he'll likely draw in.

Fuckin Phaneuf, why'd you have to come back?

Flyers coming off a close loss, will they charge out of the gate or mosey out the game? Though Phaneuf has been skating team practices for over a week now, he'll probably need some mosey time.

If there is anything that is wrong with the yahoo goalie system, at least in our league, it is that wins are used. It's a stat that is just as dependent on their team (if not more) than their own performance, though of course they can steal games. Not that I have a problem with it, since it adds to the strategy of picking goalies more than just who has the highest sv%.

Also Rangers top a list for the first time in a long time! Too bad it isn't really hockey related.

I know firsthand how bad Lebda is, but didn't believe this stat... but I just went through game by game and it is true.

Wins are an incentive for people to not bench their goalie the rest of the week after the minimum 2 games if they have the GAA/Save% lead. Its also the same reason leagues rarely count Goalie Losses as a stat - because it discourages playing your goaltenders frequently.

Now here's a pretty black and white Burke mistake. We wanted experience and we payed for a cup ring and a shooting average from long, long ago. Reminds me of Wallin (not Niclas).

We'll see just how much life Phaneuf brings back with the C ( I'm excited to see the powerplay, for one). This whole week is dangerous eastern teams and McGuire has a special fap folder for Double Dion, so while I don't quite believe the hype, getting 2 more points this week would be absolutely huge for us.
