The NHL should really just adopt a "no hits from behind" rule and call it a day. Make it similar to the NFL "block in the back" rule and you'd eliminate a LOT of these dangerous hits.

I don't know about that. Then you basically have people putting themselves in bad positions just because they know no one will touch them.

I'm all for protecting against dirty hits (elbows up, Ovechkin style charging, etc.), but if you have your head down coming through the neutral zone, and some guy catches his shoulder on you at a 90 degree angle, that's your own fucking fault.

I don't know what to say about people putting their faces up against the boards to draw boarding calls. I hate people playing the system to get position, but I also don't like watching some guy break his neck against the glass.

I don't know about other teams, but Kaleta does it all the time. He loves to dive into the boards to sell it too.

Seems like a dumbass then if he's diving into the boards head first on purpose to get penalties at the risk of his life/health.

Let me go ahead and clarify that I don't want to see Cooke break someone's neck, but have you guys ever been to the HFboard forums? It's like a fucking circus every time Cooke does something dirty, and it's very entertaining. And until he ends someone's career (Savard's career pending), I don't want to lose that entertainment.

Regardless, let it be known that as a Pen's fan, I'm sort of getting sick of seeing it happen in-game, but the entertainment it provides me from that forum, well, oh well? Doubting he gets suspended for the Tyutin hit, but I really hope Shero and Bylsma sit him down and put him in his place. We're already down to a bunch of third and fourth line players and half an AHL roster, and as dirty as Cooke is, at the moment he's one of our better players, we can't afford to lose him to suspension or a game misconduct.

My problem with Cooke is he used to be entertaining and a skilled pest. He was Alex Burrows in Vancouver before we had Alex Burrows. But now he seems to have changed and really gone over the top with these dirty ass hits. It's to the point now where when he tried to take out Ovechkins knee the other game he got punched in the face by both Ovechkin and Backstrom and the refs saw no problem with it. I wouldn't be surprised if he's one of the most hated players in the league right now.

He most definitely is. I think the biggest problem right now is we are so shorthanded to begin with, he's getting first line minutes now, which is giving him more time to do stupid shit. It's really a shame, too, because there's no doubt he's a pretty talented hockey player. If only he could kill his own penalties.

Pretty much this. Being a pest is one thing, especially if you aren't willing to answer the bell when fight-time comes...Carcillo does the same shit without endangering people other than Jeff Carter. Burrows does the same shit without risking serious injuries. I believe that the pest role will soon be seeing its way out of the NHL simply because the 'average' NHL player is becoming more and more talented and teams are not going to be able to ice competitive teams if they spend a roster slot on a guy who can't either score goals or physically intimidate with clean hits/fights.

Cooke's play as of recent years is pretty atrocious, though I have to give Ivaden some credit for at least recognizing it's wrong, most of the other retarded Pens homers on the internet think his play is perfectly clean.

Honestly, if he wasn't playing for the Penguins, I don't see this whole Cooke fiasco being as big of a deal as it is right now (not to say it isn't, though). Half the scrutiny people on the internet are clamoring about is, "OMGAH WHAT IF COOKE PLAYED FOR SOMEONE ELSE AND HIT CROSBY AND HE WAS OUT FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE TOO BECAUSE HE HAS A CONCUSSION NOW!"

Yeah I agree, and the 2nd Savard concussion didn't really help his cause either. Savard went from a top player to pretty much being a bump on the noggin from an Ian Laperriere-style forced retirement.

Wow, what a doucher that guy is, lol. Signing up for Twitter and following Carle just to spite this guy.

Also, FFFFFFFFF Cooke. With him out of the line-up though, I would really like to see Tangradi take his spot. There's no reason our biggest prospect should be getting fourth line minutes. I want Tangradi to have some chemistry with Staal, because a line with them and Malkin is pretty intimidating imo.
