OMG. Another d-man out of the game. Hamuis pulled out of the game after getting crunched against the boards.
Wow. A violent day in the NHL. Goalies brawling alot. Lol.

Sounds like they are going to sit Hamhuis on Saturday but bring Salo in so we'll so how that goes.
Tanev was a -1 tonight which is pretty good for a rookie defense man considering Erhoff was -2 tonight. Ugh I really don't like the fact that the Canucks are going to end up paying him 4.5-5 mil if they resign him. 3.5-4 sure but if we pay him what everyone says we are we're overpaying.
Oh man, HFBoards exploding about the hit on Hamhuis by Getzlaf.
So, Canucks fans, was it an actual dirty hit? I trust you guys a lot more than the jokes on that website. The hypocrisy spewing at the moment compared to the Cooke fiasco is hilarious.
It wasn't as bad as the Cooke hit but it definitely wasn't cool. Getzlaf could have easily let up on that hit. The fact that he left his feet and wasn't called for a penalty didn't help matters. I would like to see him get a suspension of a few games as the hit was needlessly reckless. Do I expect a suspension? No.
leaving the ice to deliver a hit really doesn't seem to be something they're giving supplemental punishments for this year, seen a ton of those plays that just get shrugged off
edit: just saw the video, it doesn't look like Getzlaf jumped into it, his skates stay on the ice up until they're about to hit Hamhuis', and the hit itself is relatively clean, shoulder-to-shoulder but Hamhuis' head took an unfortunate bounce off the glass(similar thing happened early this year with the Hjalmarsson hit, but I'd say Getzlaf had less time to react to the guy turning than Hjalmarsson did). I think that it maybe came a bit late to the point where Getzlaf could have let up, but the hit itself appears to be pretty clean.
think it's just an unfortunate result of a bad angle and Getzlaf being a fucking giant bastard
It looked to me like Hamhuis didn't really expect it to be such a big hit and Getzlaf is just a big dude. I wouldn't really be shocked if Hamhuis was fine or if he was injured, but I don't think it was a hit that needs a suspension. Would have been nice to see Getzlaf ease up a little but it doesn't look like he jumped at him in the way the commentators in that video say he did. I see the same kind of thing with Kronwall a lot (though not as much this season), he hits them while he is propelling himself upward so he hits them while he is on the ice but leaves his feet after the contact is already made.
Yeah but the difference is one of the two guys hasn't done it so often that there's a verb named after him lol
99 out of 100 that hit wouldn't have had the same effect. This time it did. Bad hit? Not really. Unfortunate yes. Should have been a 2 min penalty for boarding. If anything i'm more pissed about Milan Mikhalek slew footing Ballard.

FYI, the Getzlaf hit on Hamhuis last is not going to result in any supplemental disciplilne. I am not surprised, said as much last night.
Ottawa goes into full rebuild mode, trades Fisher to Nashville. Carrie Underwood is doing fist pumps somewhere.
Sharks now 19 out of there last 20 points. #2 seed may still be a possibility somehow.
I think she already qualifies as a 'luxury box'...anyways, Turco finally pegged to start against Dallas @ the AAC, pretty much a game the Hawks really, really need to walk out of with at least a point.

Quebec and Quebec City are going 50/50 on a fully taxpayer-funded $400m NHL-caliber arena with absolutely no promise of actually getting an NHL team. And people wonder why I call Quebecis idiots.

Bettman himself said during the Allstar Game, that there were no plans in the foreseeable future to move a team to Quebec City and was asked by a reporter what would happen if the city itself built an arena without help from the NHL. He basically said if you want to do it go for it, don't expect us to give you a team though if you do. Good way to spend the taxpayers money.
