I do feel for the Pens a bit here...Isles pulled some pretty goon-ish shit tonight and absolutely noone outside of Pens fans gives a flying fact because of 1) Matt Cooke being Matt Cooke and 2) Pens TV people being insufferable homer fucks.

But hey, at least we got a spot on SportsCenter right?
Maybe the refs knew whats going on, and let vigilante justice take over ^_^
10 games or more is appropriate for Godard, but the guy who went after Johnson should face some games too, even though he essentially just picked a fight with another player. If he doesn't get suspended I would imagine he has a huge target on his back now though.
disgusted in general
Godard automatic 10 games + the head coach gets fined + the organization gets fined.
Other than that, Hailey, Martin, and Gilles all going to get suspended. Just a trio of goons who clearly were told before the game to do this sort of thing. I anticipate fines for the NYI/their coach as well.
Martin might be suspended the rest of the season cause the punch he threw at Talbot was Steve Moore / Todd Bertuzzi level. Talbot was just skating up ice making a hockey play and Martin snuck up behind him and mimiced his strides staying right behind him for 5 seconds before trying to sucker punch him - thankfully Talbot saw the hand at the very last second and just dropped to the ground and turtled to defend himself cause he was going to get seriously hurt.
Gilles likely going to get a suspension for charging+elbowing Tangredi. Tangredi is 6'5" and he had to jump to drive his elbow into his head, then started punching him when it was clear Tangredi was injured from the initial elbow. After the game, Dan Bylsma said Tangredi is starting to exhibit concussion symptoms. And lets not forget, Trevor Gilles then stood in the runway right next to where he elbowed Tangredi and taunted him while he was being taken care of by the Pens trainer.
Hailey probably gets the smallest suspension. Can't fight Talbot (Islanders target #1) and then get up and go try and hurt the Pens goalie (Islanders target #2), but he didn't do anything egregiously violent.
Eric Godard was completely right to get off the bench and go beat the shit out of him, thats his role. When his contract was signed, it was to skate along side 87/71 if games get out of hand, but I'm sure no one in the Penguins organization, including Bylsma (who will be fined for Godard's action), faults him for doing what he did. Im sure Sid or someone else will help Godard out with his lost $$$, I'm sure the team really respects that and he probably earned himself another contract with that. But again, the rule is black+white. Its an automatic 10 games, even if most hockey fans understand it was justified. Can't let the other team's top goon go after your goalie, who you know they want to injure, 200 feet down the ice while the other 4 officials are busy at the Isles' end breaking up other fights.
For the Penguins:
Letang bruised foot from Tavares slash.
Tangredi concussion symptoms.
Paul Martin may be hurt too, he blocked a shot with 45 seconds left in the game and was really hobbled, no word on that yet.
Heh I knew that game would bring Sep back.
Whether Gilles gets a suspension at this point is irrelevant because it sounds like he has a concussion from an elbow he took from Godard.
Im fucking busy student teachingBut yes that game was an epic clusterfuck and I had to come give my 2 cents.
I beat Callisto in a game of NHL11 pretty soundly yesterday though.
I never said I wasn't... I needed some time to do my student teaching internship so I asked the Penguins staff to arrange a fake injury in the NHL's biggest game so people would believe I was hurt and I could have time away from hockey to go finish out my college degree.
strangely plausible.
and congrats on pasting Cally. he was getting saucy
This last week has had some crazy fights. First the Bruins & Canadians. Yesterday with the Islanders & Penguins. And people want "old-school" hockey back. Lol.
Flames are hot right now. But i expect the Canucks to pull out a win tonight.
For Ishido:
it's worth watching til the end
I'm pretty skeptical about the postseason at this point. If we had some combination of less away games, more easy games, or at least more games against Calgary/Minnesota I'd feel better about it.
I think you guys will make it. I'm rooting for you.
How I'd like to see the West pan out:
1. Vancouver
2. Detroit
3. Dallas
4. Nashville
5. Phoenix
6. San Jose
7. Anaheim
8. Chicago
Pretty epic matchups right there.
