2010-2011 NHL Season Thread

This is... not entirely true I feel. I feel like there are a lot of young goaltenders or goaltenders who have only been in the league for a few seasons at the moment, and thus are still on their ELC or haven't proven themselves enough for a longer term/more lucrative contract. In the next few seasons I am guessing guys like Rinne and Price will get decent raises, with a bunch of other guys having similar chances if they can keep it up like Niemi, Pavelac, Bobrovsky, etc.

idk if it's maybe just a temporary lull in available talent, but there seems to be a pretty fine line between what I'd consider the top guys and the run-of-the-mill, like Rinne I'd give $5m, but I can't think of many more who aren't already locked up that I would unless they play at a high level for at least 2 consecutive seasons. Like Pavelec has looked great, but this season has been freakish compared to his previous ones. Niemi really looked rough at the start of the year but it looks like he's coming into form.

For as much shit as the Hawks front office gets for their shitty contracts, Niemi and now Crawford for a combined $1.6m over the last 2 years is pretty fucking nice lol

Hudler had 6 points through 30 games. Now has 32 on the season, so 24 in his last 28, I guess he has finally found his game again (and for the past several has had Datsyuk on his line).

I think paying more than $3m/year for a goalie is going to be out of style for a pretty good while going forward outside of guys like Luongo who already have a long contract set in stone. Getting two kinda-above-average guys for $2m~ each and doing a 1a/1b deal seems to be the new hotness.

Heh and Niemi just signed a four year deal with an average salary of 3.8 mil.

Loser: Colorado Avalanche - Have you ever made an impulse decision to adopt a stray dog that's been raised in an abusive environment because you hope things will be different if it's given a loving home, but then when you get it back to your place it just poops all the over your floor and rolls around in it?
