bleh, hard to win a shootout if you don't put the puck in the net

God damn the western conference. With a win, Calgary will move from 8th to 4th.
Not sure why you're all surprised.
Even though I've posted this before, I feel the need to do so every time one of these hits comes up.

DGB is genius!

I have such a bittersweet relationship with 3 point games. Hate that Chicago got a point tonight, but glad Calgary walked away with 2. Tied with Chicago now, playing again tomorrow against Phoenix and then again on Saturday against Vancouver. 2 BIIIIIG games.
Also, I'm definitely on the "Chara should be suspended" side. Pretty BS move by the league. Pacioretty had a phone interview with Bob Mackenzie earlier today, it's up on TSN.ca under the NHL Insider video. Pretty harsh, passionate and more or less correct words from him really.
Also also, not looking good in Phoenix = looking good for Winnipeg!
:D
I know how one individual in Ontario is looking when reading about the Coyotes.
Spoiler: show
And here's her response:

Looks, brains and a clear attitude to do what's right for tax payers?... If the franchise does indeed come back to Winnipeg, can we have her too? God knows how many millions our city government wastes every year.
*Edit
Was woken up by a text from a friend in the middle of the night. I had to post it:
Steve Nash was planted by Canada on the Suns to spy on the Coyotes in the desert and report back to his Canadian masters!
Lol Montréal Cops wanna investiguate on Chara's case
lol
Won't go anywhere, because the hit was made in the spirit of the game. It's not like the Bertuzzi instance where he clearly just jumped the guy.
Chara still should have been suspended for a significant length. Wanna get serious about getting dangerous play out of the game? Hand out sizeable suspensions for any illegal hits which cause injury. Guy is out for a game? So are you. Guy is out for a week? So are you. Guy is out for a season? So are you.
I would have liked to see the league go with a stance similar to that but I know it will never happen. Also there is no way of knowing how it would change how players play the game. Injuries are going to be a part of the league always but I'd like to see more responsibility.
What really pisses me off is that the league had a chance to make this go away by just giving Chara SOMETHING. Even suspending him for 2 games would have been fine. But no it's a "hockey play" so Chara gets nothing. Now every Montreal fan has turned into a conspiracy nut that makes Canucks fans look rational. Quebec politicans and bureaucrats are jumping on the rage bandwagon so they can say they support the will of the people or some such shit. It's a giant cluster fuck that is going to go on for the next several weeks until the playoffs start and it's all because the league wouldn't give Chara 2 fucking games.
I love hockey but god am I pissed at the NHL for making this story bigger then it needed to be. So fucking retarded.

According to boston media outlets, montreal police have opened a criminal investigation into the hit.
Yet, this is all a smoke show so people will stop calling the police pleading them to open a case.
Well this is gonna go over real well with people across the NHL/Montreal.
Tampa Bay's Kubina suspended three games for hit on Bolland

TORONTO – Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Pavel Kubina has been suspended for three games and will forfeit $60,096.76 for delivering an elbow to the head of Chicago Blackhawks forward Dave Bolland in NHL game #1005, the National Hockey League announced today.
The incident occurred at 2:09 of the first period. No penalty was assessed on the play.
His fine is based on his average annual salary and is calculated under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
Kubina will miss the Lightning's next three games -- Mar. 11 against Ottawa, Mar. 12 at Florida and Mar. 14 at Toronto. He is eligible to return Mar. 17 at Montreal.
Chara damn near kills a guy and gets off scott free, Kubina elbows Bolland and gets three games. Bravo NHL, bravo.
That's pretty pathetic. Elbow to the head is dangerous, yes, but so is a 255lb 6'9 ramming your head into a stationary object as well.
I always use Air Canada to fly around in the country and if do pull sponsorship, respect +1.
Except for when lost sponsorship dollars are taken out of the revenue-sharing funds which help support teams that either don't have a large market, or have a decent market but too small of an arena to be competitive on ticket sales alone(sup 'Peg)
I'm wondering if the incident had happened in another city would Air Canada have cared as much. Don't matter either way as Bettman again showing his best side and responding with an arrogant response.
Big game tonight as Sharks are the hottest team in the league. Team has so much trust that Schneider is in net for this game. Also can't wait for the signs for Chara. 1st game since the incident. Let the trolling begin.
This is worth 3 games...
This is worth 0 games...
Someone seriously fucking explain this to me, because I guess I'm just a whiny little bitch from Montreal who WAH WAH MY PLAYER KILL CHARA..or something like that.
Ummm, Winnipeg doesn't need to charge the same rate as say Toronto or Montreal for tickets to turn a profit. 15,000 may be a bit small in NHL standards, but there's no reason why they can't expand seating by another thousand or so. In case there are still doubters of hockey working in the 'Peg, then say other cities, here it is by the numbers from 1996 to now.
