Hawks need to shake that awful game and concentrate on the next few wins. Lets just check our schedule..... FUCK!
Hoping Philly takes it to Dallas tonight, but will be watching NYR vs Les Habitants.

9. Nashville 71 82 (0g vs hawks)
10. Anaheim 70 81 (1g vs hawks)
Presuming Hawks beat Anaheim down the road, that leaves Nashville with a max possible pointage of 104 points. Their end of season schedule: Det, @Buf(b2b), Edm, Ana, Dal, Van, @Col, Det, Atl, Cls, @Stl(b2b)
The games they should win I'd say would be Edm, Ana, @Col, Atl (lets face it, West usually beats East)
They games that could go either way are @Buf, Dal, Cls, @Stl (games on back to back nights usually go either way)
Games they shouldnt win are Det, Dal, Van, Det
So lets give Nashville all their "should wins" (8 pts), 2/4 of their "maybe win"(4 pts), and 1/4 of their "shouldnt win"(2 pts), finishing them with about 94 pts. The average cutoff point for 8th seed generally around 90 points.
09-10: Mtl 88, Colo 95
08-09: Mtl 93, Ana 91
07-08: Bos 94, Nas 91
06-07: NYI 92, Cgy 96
I guess its a bit more like 93 pts
I'd say Chicago needs to win more like 5 of their last 11 to have a chance, but mathematically, I dont think anyone in the western conference, short of Vancouver and Detroit, are going to go from "fighting for playoff contention" to "fighting for playoff positioning" until the first week of april. While SJ may have picked it up the last while, all it takes is a 3 game losing streak and they can go from 3rd to 7th.
As for Chicago's closing schedule, I think they can get their 5 wins easily: Florida, Anaheim, Columbus, St Louis, Tampa...and will probably beat the Habs too since Habs usually choke against western teams. 3 games against Detroit blows though haha.
Generally we play well against Detroit and Vancouver but struggle against other teams sometimes. Those games against the Wings could be a blessing in disguise if we can get on a win streak again and somehow catch Detroit. One of those two things is possible realistically imo, and it's not catching Detroit.
Phx will be a win for the Hawks as long they can get a few PP. We destroy their PK and are one of the few teams with a worse %.
I don't know, after watching the Kings get dismantled by the Blues, I'd be hesitant to say any opponent is a win for a team right now. Playoff hockey in the West. It starts sooner then you think.
Finny I don't know if my lungs can take any more smoke breaks after that travesty.
I like the way the west standings are now. Some great first round match ups. Vancouver vs Calgary, Detroit vs Chicago, San Jose vs Dallas. All of them would be epic series. Unless one team goes on a 3-4 game losing skid I think most of the top 8 will make it to the playoffs but I think Anaheim has a better shot at knocking out Calgary for 8th than Nashville.
Although Nashville does have like a million home games left so it could work out in their favour.
James Mirtle updated his playoff push list. Islanders, Ottawa, St Louis, Colorado, and Edmonton officially done. Calgary needs to go 6-2-1 which frankly I don't think they can do.

You know that just means I have to watch the leafs until 1 loss and 1 otl
They can still make it with 1 loss and 1 OTL right? If they lose more than 1 in reg they're done.
Atleast that's how I'm reading it.
Exactly, well that's what I meant to say. It IS the day after St. Pats
That's what they need to make the playoffs under their own power. Doesn't account for other teams slumping. Toronto only needs to win 2 more than Buf, 1 more than Carolina to tie for 8th. If you expect Buf to win 6 yes you need 8 wins. But if Buf and Carolina suddenly go on a losing streak, then Tor only needs to win as many as Atl and 1 less than Jersey.
In Toronto, realistically you have to be hoping to win 6-7 out of the last 10, and hope Buf and Carolina blow a few.
Yeah it doesn't take into account how other teams do. Mirtle assumes that for each conference there is a certain number of points that teams can earn to get into the playoffs. For the East they have to have 89+ points by the end of the season to get in.
So in Toronto's case they have to go 8-1-1 to earn 89 points but teams ahead of them could all earn 91 points leaving them still out of the playoffs but thankfully not giving Boston another lottery pick.
So Hornqvist gets a 2,500 fine for his elbow to the head. I'm seriously beginning to think that punishment is decided by dart board or dice.
Woo, if Habs can take down the Rangers tonight, it'll make a nice buffer between them. It'll also put them just a point behind the slumping Bruins for the division. Great times to come.
And TSN current Jets meter:

The Devils have some pretty ugly St Patty's day uniforms today.
Son of a bitch!
Sacrebleu!
Big goal by arty!
