He also states that Cooke likely done for the season, NHL brass just debating to do playoffs too. John Buccigross has always been like the one guy on ESPN other than Barry Melrose whose insight and opinion on hockey had credit imo.

Yeah I was just about to post about Malhotra. That's pretty brutal for the team. Our PK is going to suffer. Also Daniel Sedin and Tanner Glass won't be playing in the Detroit game.

Yeah Daniel is getting is the game off because his wife is having a baby so that's some positive news. The Higgins and Lapierre acquisition are starting to look pretty huge for our depth on forward.

Any complaints that the Pens have about the head hits on Crosby are seriously undercut with Cooke on their payroll.

If by season you mean the full playoffs, yea I agree. Otherwise if you mean season = regular season, he was.

Wonder for future, if the NHL would consider suspending players, for playoff games anytime during the year. Like if you elbow someone in the head at the beginning of the season and you get like 5 games + 2 playoff games(when playoffs start). Might put a scare factor onto the players right from the start of the season and maybe they would be less likely to attempt injure players via head shots.

Not a bad idea, but it'd have no effect for players on 14 other teams. What happens if Cooke takes another headshot and the Penguins never make the playoffs? Additional supplementary discipline to make up for the would-be playoff games?

I think Mario's idea was actually perfectly legit, if you cost the person who signs your paycheck money it'll land you in the shithouse easy, it was just the fact that the idea came from a guy who happens to sign Cooke's paychecks that made it laughable.

Maybe add a new clause to the next CBA that any player found to be a repeat offender may have his contract negated at the teams discretion with no buyout.
