He ended with the Wolves yes, but only because his contract expired with the Wings and they just didn't have space for him. Same thing as the Hawks, we woulda taken him back for like a year contract for 1-2 mil just to let him retire a Hawk but we literally had 0 cap space, and 0 roster space. Wolves said that they'd sign him and he played. I saw him play last year at a game, it's not like he was any less physical or anything.

He just wanted to play, he didn't expect special treatment for who he was or everything he did, and btw the Wolves have been perennial AHL Calder Cup contenders/winners so it's not like it was some scrub farm team. Before the Hawks transformation, the Wolves were literally better, and had higher attendance in a smaller building than the NHL team.

I thought he ended up with the Wolves because his defensive play wasn't good enough for the stalwart defensive system in Atlanta. I seem to recall him being somehwat of liability.

Atlanta called him up for a handful of games due to injuries on their back line but I don't think he played more than 5-6 games with them before moving back down. I'd have to double check that though but I'm pretty sure that was the case. I don't think he signed with Atlanta then got moved down but that might be the case and I just remember wrong.

Chicago Wolves and Atlanta Thrashers

After the Red Wings announced that they would not be re-signing Chelios,[5] he signed a 25-game pro try-out contract with the Chicago Wolves.[6] After a second 25-game pro tryout contract with the Wolves,[7] Chelios then signed a two-way contract with the Atlanta Thrashers. Atlanta kept him with the Wolves until he was recalled to the Thrashers,[8] hoping that he could provide a spark for the team's playoff hopes.[9] He played in seven games for the Thrashers, but failed to score any points.[10] On April 6, 2010, the Thrashers lost a game against the Devils that they had to win, in order to reach the playoffs, which meant that the Thrashers missed the 2010 playoffs. On April 7, 2010, Chelios was sent back to the Wolves.[9][11]

At 44 years of age Chelios played 81 games, had 11 points and ended +22. At 45 he played 71 games, had 11 points and ended +11. At 46 he played 69 games, had 12 points and was +11. He was fantastic for the Wings even after he turned 40, the only reason they didn't hold on to him was because they didn't have room with guys like Ericsson and Kindl coming up who they did not want to lose.

Whoa, hold up sir, Chelios wasn't getting undressed by people, he wasn't as good as in his prime, but given his age he was still skating with all these young dudes that should have been able to skate circles around him. He was still playing pretty solid d at 48, I'm pretty sure he still was getting respect from people.

Not 100% correct lol, he was solid most the season, though pretty much the last play of his career was him getting undressed in an AHL playoff game and getting burned for the game-winner that put them out of the Calder playoffs.

Lupul should sit on Ryan Miller tonight. I think a goal and a five game shoulder injury would do wonders for the leafs chances.
