I'd be willing to bet money that the league won't say anything about this during the playoffs, and unless it gets leaked early there will be an announcement around the draft that the Coyotes are being moved.
I love how this points out that a similar bond deal is in place with the Yankees now, and even they can't fulfill the repayment of the bonds. Yankees are maybe the second richest team value in all of sports behind the Cowboys (or maybe the order is reversed) but hell, if even they can't repay bonds through parking, there's no way in hell the Coyotes can.

Yeah that shits hilarious. Also reading about all the other failed sports buildings they have down there is crazy. A billion dollars in failing investments for a city. Vancouver got fucked on the Olympic Village and I think even that won't cost taxpayers more than 250 million at it's worst.

I'm still a bit wary with the gnome being so quiet lately. Either he's conjuring up another shady deal with another questionable USA market, or trying to distance himself from this whole mess.

    Really hope it's the latter.

Not gonna lie, that power play goal by Toronto just now was pretty nice. 2-2

Edit: Toronto can't catch a break. 3-2 Boston

New York also has an extensive public transportation network that makes having a car not a requisite for attending a Yankees game and paying whatever they get gouged for stadium parking there. In Glendale at least more people will need to park, but that difference will probably be negligible when compared to the dropoff in attendance they face.

I do think the deal isn't the best for the taxpayers and I'm surprised Hulsizer and/or the NHL haven't footed a bit more cash...but Goldwater are a bunch of crotchety cunts that need to butt the fuck out. And I'm still meh about the team going to a city that already failed to support the team once. Just because it's a Canadian city doesn't mean having an NHL team is its birthright.

    Holy sweet mother of christ,

Kadri was skating back and forth like 4 times before he went for his SO shot. See, I thought he was nervous.

He just choreographed a Crosby-esque goal like Mozart with a wand.

And that's your game winner, TOR 4-3 in SO

It does when they make you think they have a shot at the playoffs then blow it at the end, lol. The further out they fold the less soul-crushing it is.

That's not a fair assessment as the Jets met most of the financial turmoil when the US Dollar was close to 2x as much as the Canadian Dollar...players get paid in USD, fans pay in CAD. I'm aware there was revenue sharing (a quick search led me to something called "currency adjustment plan", but I couldnt find any details) back then as well though, except now that the Canadian Dollar got stronger (and USD plummeted), the Canadian teams are footing their end and then some.

Interesting news for Phoenix, urh i mean Winnipeg. I agree that NHL unlikely to announce anything until Phoenix is done with the playoffs. Also, do not touch the President's trophy. DO NOT TOUCH IT Henik!

Incorrect. Nobody I know likes watching useless hockey, except Sens fans.

Everybody's looking toward next year now, anyway. We're the second youngest team in the league in, what is for most their first real NHL playoff-level games. A lot has changed. Kadri is a 20 year old prospect, going for epic dangles that are still a step too complicated for NHL level sometimes, but when they work he's an exciting playmaker. Reimer has landed. Aulie has become a defensive brick wall, and the pairing with Phaneuf, giving phaneuf more shots, looks like it's here to stay (Considering Aulie was a throw-in for phaneuf, it looks pretty good from our end). Gunnarson improved. Mac and the Russians produce every night.

We also made some big trades for the club, getting Joffrey Lupul (who looks like Lupul of old and plays with Kessel every night), prospects in Gardiner(BOS' 2008 1st rounder) and Colborne. We also restocked the draft pick jar.

We didn't make the playoffs, but I think as a fan you have to look favourably at how we developed over the course of this year, put it in the books, and move on.

It was a good game too against BOS. Tip for the Hawks: Next time you need to score on Thomas, go Top Glove

People need to be a bit more aware of the circumstances in 1995-1996 for Winnipeg.

    - Canadian dollar was 60-65cents to the green back
    - No salary cap
    - Aging arena where no one had the money to pay for one

And you do know Atlanta is not the only city to get another chance for a NHL team, right?

    I think that's totally fair.

Meanwhile Operation: Rangers Meltdown has so far gone according to plan. Remember last year?

Don't mean to nitpick, but Gardiner was ANA's 2008, Colborne was Boston's 2008.

Aww I got them backwards. Couldn't remember whose was whose.

Still not a bad job for Burke.

Course that means Ron Wilson will be back again, and if there's one person this town loves to hate, it's the head coach of the Leafs.

Edit: Sean Avery getting destroyed. What a tool. Good on the NYI coach, watch that stealth change (Awhat up, enforcer?)

Not bad at all. Two 1sts, two former 1st round picks, a 2nd (if Kabs resigns), a 3rd, and a conditional 6th rounder.
