Yeah all I know is Chicago and Dallas play Sunday, which could be interesting. Phoenix, Anaheim and Nashville play back-to-back tonight and tomorrow to wrap up their seasons. Going to get be a crazy weekend.

Tonight is extremely important and will shed a lot of light on how things will most likely shake out. 8 of the top 10 teams in the Western conference play tonight including all 5 Pacific teams.

Part of me wants to see Dallas choke as I hate dallas, but the other part of me kind of wants to see dallas slip past the hawks just so all the teams in the pacific division can make the playoffs.

Hahaha these are great. While on the subject though of the Canucks, did they really make any major upgrades in the offseason? They seem to be the same team almost as last year to the untrained eye/out of market eye, and yet they're playing much better. Is it new players or is it due to Luongo being stripped of the C and feeling less pressure, thus he's playing better behind the team?

We already choked when we lost 6 straight (including 5 to Western Conference teams, 1 each to every Pacific Division team.) If we get in, it'll be a miracle. Hossa's phantom goal was proof that we aren't going to make it. We don't deserve to anyway.

They upgraded their defensive corp. with Hamhuis and Ballard. Also with the fortuitous injuries to Salo and Edler allowed us to keep Bieksa who is having an amazing season and pick up a couple of utility players (Higgins and Lapierre) at the deadline. With Edler back and Hamhuis playing tonight it will be the first time we will have our top six playing together all season.

As for Luongo, losing the C wasn't as big a deal as getting a full time goalie coach. Last year he was using his own goalie coach but he'd only be around once every month or so. Now we have Melanson who is constantly working with Luo to improve his game and helped change his style so he uses less energy to make saves and be ready to stop any shots from rebounds. That's been the biggest change he's made and it's why he's playing so well right now. In passed years he'd be starting to play worse at this time of the year but this season wow is he ever looking good, in the Edmonton game he was the reason Edmonton didn't score on a 4 minute 5 on 3 until 3 minutes of it had gone by.

He was there to receive the president's trophy last night, he looked pretty good and has said he's confident he will recover his eye sight.

Also because canucks fans are huge nerds here's a chart showing Luo's save% for every year he's been in Vancouver, notice how it tanks at the end of the year? Yeah that ain't the case this year thanks to Ginger Jesus making the saves and helping take some of the load off Luongo's shoulders.
