I'm starting to watch more Rangers games. I feel I should know more about what's going on with them since I live here. Avery is definitely a fun guy to watch assuming he's not jerking your favorite team around.

There were a few changes to the Capitals' line combinations at practice Tuesday morning. Chief among them was that Nicklas Backstrom was skating alongside Brooks Laich and Alexander Semin on the second line while Tomas Fleischmann centered Alex Ovechkin and Mike Knuble on the first. As we know and have almost come to expect, Coach Bruce Boudreau likes to experiment and rotate his lines, particularly in the beginning of the season. That tendency led to the swap in practice, but Boudreau was unclear as to whether it might happen in a game. So don't rule it out just yet.


"Nicky and [Alex] are going to end up playing together for 10 years for the most part," Boudreau said. "Every now and again, you move them around. I don't know if I'll do it tomorrow, but it was looking okay today."


Here's what the forward lines looked like:

Laich-Backstrom-Semin
Chimera-Hendricks-Fehr
King-Steckel-B.Gordon

Gabby will do this for a period here and there. But the Laich-Flash-Semin line has looked pretty good, why break that up? Backstrom has no points in three games so far, maybe just sending him a message? Are you rewarding Flash, a guy who you scratched in game seven against the Habs? Does any of this matter since we host the Isles tonight?

I'm guessing the change is to get Backstrom back in the swing of things. Zero points in 3 games from him has been pretty shocking, so maybe a little change will spark something. Flash to the first line is odd, but I haven't really seen how he's performed so far.
